The CFO Centre is the world's number 1 provider of part-time Chief Financial Officers to SMEs with over 700 CFOs operating out of 70+ offices across 5 continents and managing a combined turnover of £5 billion. Ambitious £2m - £50m turnover companies are able to have one of the country's top Finance Directors working at their business but uniquely, on a part-time basis. This means that companies which do not require a full-time FD (or would prefer not to pay a full time salary) can leverage the skills of a senior part-time FD for a fraction of the cost. In addition to this, the FD Centre operates a unique 'Team' structure. With over 100 part-time FDs across the UK, we have an unparalleled combined skill set which each of our client can leverage... What do we mean by this? As an example, if one of our clients is wanting to sell their business, instead of just having one FD working on the sale, our 'Team' structure means that we can collaborate quickly across our entire group of FDs not only to help maximise the equity value of the business pre-sale but also in helping to find the ideal buyer, willing to pay the highest price.     CDM Stravitec, a leader in solving vibration and noise problems in buildings and industry, operates globally from its HQ in Overijse, Belgium. In July 2020, Laurence Carels, transitioned from finance director to CEO, succeeding her father, Patrick. Focussed on professionalising the company's operations and driving international growth, Laurence recognised the need for financial reinforcement and external expertise.   Enter Dirk Verbruggen, regional director, who introduced Laurence to candidate CFO Wim Van der Smissen. Following thoughtful discussions, Wim joined as part-time CFO, dedicating four days a month to critical tasks like operationalising a new transfer pricing system, supporting year-end and first-quarter closings, setting up computer systems, and managing administrative follow-up for new subsidiaries.   Laurence tells us about the key number that drives her vision:   "From a turnover of 13 million euros in 2019 to 16 million euros in 2020, CDM Stravitec is on a growth trajectory. The answer was simple, there is nothing better than seeing the team members grow in their roles, learning new skills and getting recognition through promotion etc. This means their family members will also benefit.     Is the C-suite model reaching its breaking point? The pressure on our CXOs is relentless. The checklist for being a ‘good’ CXO seems to grow each week. Many C-suite professionals are increasingly disillusioned with the corporate grind. It's no surprise — balancing these demands with personal wellbeing can feel out of reach. Placing too much expectation and reliance on one individual is a dangerous game — for both the professionals and the organisations they work for. There comes a moment when we need to stop and consider whether there is a better way of doing things. And no, the answer isn’t just to add another full-time CXO role to the table. We need to seriously rethink the C-suite construct. Moving the C-suite from the payroll to an access role provides a welcome relief. From a peer-based to a team-based approach, scaling up or down based on the situation at hand. But, not just as a ‘temporary solution’. An access-economy, team-based approach that utilises deeply knowledgeable, committed, and connected portfolio C-suite executives working fractionally and on-demand is the future of the C-suite.
