🌍 Extreme Weather and Its Impact on Crowd Management 🌍 Thanks to our resident weather guru, Ric Robins from the Met Office, for highlighting the importance of staying informed about rapid climate change. A new article from leading climate scientists reveals that the pace of change means we haven’t yet seen how severe extreme weather could become: "The climate is changing so fast that we haven’t seen how bad extreme weather could get". With record-breaking heatwaves and storms already impacting our work, it’s clear that we must be prepared for even more unpredictable and severe conditions. This has serious implications for public safety, event planning, and emergency response. We strongly encourage everyone in the world of crowds to read this essential article and consider how we can adapt our practices to ensure safety 👉 https://lnkd.in/eqfJmTfP #ClimateChange #ExtremeWeather #PublicSafety #CrowdManagement #UKCMA #EventSafety #EmergencyResponse #Crowds #Events #CrowdProfs #EventProfs #StrongerTogether

🚁 Rise in Drone Near Misses with Air Ambulances 🚁 As professionals dedicated to public safety and crowd management, it's crucial to stay informed about the growing risks in our field. Recently, Wiltshire Air Ambulance has reported a troubling increase in near-collisions involving drones, particularly at accident sites where our teams may be working closely with emergency services. In one incident in Bath, a drone narrowly avoided colliding with an air ambulance as it came in to land. The potential consequences of such a collision could be catastrophic, not only for the crew but for the emergency response efforts as a whole. This trend highlights the urgent need for greater understanding surrounding drone use in sensitive areas where lives are at stake, especially by amateur operators. We urge all professionals in the field to remain vigilant and to educate those around you about the dangers of improper drone usage near emergency sites.
