This weekend, Emily in Paris fans kept our network busy with the much-anticipated launch of Season 4 on Thursday! 🌟 On Sunday at 9 PM, Netflix hit its highest traffic peak since the show's launch, making up 11% of total network demand—almost double the usual 6%. 📈 We also saw the biggest percentage uplift on Sunday morning at 9:15 AM, with demand skyrocketing by 35% compared to typical usage at that time. 💡 And here’s a fun fact: From Thursday to Sunday, our network handled a staggering 3.2 PB of Netflix data—that’s equivalent to 128 years of non-stop streaming in HD! #EmilyInParis #ThreeUK #Streaming #NetworkDemand

📢 Our H1 2024 financial results show year-on-year revenue and margin growth, but EBITDA less capex remains negative since 2020. Our CEO, Robert Finnegan, said: “Despite scaling back our capex, we continued to make a loss driven by the escalating inflationary costs of operating our network. Our cashflows have been negative since 2020 and our costs have almost doubled in 5 years, meaning investment in network is unsustainable. “UK mobile networks rank an abysmal 22nd out of 25 in Europe on 5G speeds and availability, with the dysfunctional structure of the market denying us the ability to invest sustainably to fix this situation. Three UK is leading the way in digital education by becoming the first mobile network operator to offer Continuing Professional Development (The CPD Certification Service) qualifications. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the importance of #DigitalLiteracy has never been greater. In the UK, approximately 4.4million adults lack basic #DigitalSkills and 1.5million people have no digital skill. Recognising this gap, Three Discovery has developed a suite of free CPD workshops that focus on core digital skills, including online safety, communicating tools and problem solving. These workshops are crafted to be accessible to all, ensuring that participants from all backgrounds can benefit and adapt to the digital age. Along with the rest of the world, our customers were keenly watching the Olympic Games. The network peak during the Paris games was driven by Noah Lyle’s incredible win in the Men’s 100m final and post-race analysis. We also saw large uplifts on BBC services during these Team GB moments: 🥇3x as much traffic on BBC (+218%): Men’s Individual Triathlon which saw Alex Yee bring home Gold for Team GB 🥈3x as much traffic on BBC (+215%): Women’s Skeet Shooting final, which saw Amber Jo Rutter collect Silver for Team GB 🥉 3x as much traffic on BBC (+208%): Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, in which Harry Hepworth won Bronze for Team GB Chat on socials was also accelerated by the Games with a peak traffic uplift on X of +39% when Team GB’s Keely Hodgkinson’s raced to victory in the Women’s 800m final. Olympics fever also had an impact on other apps with: 🕹️ -11% decline in Gaming, despite the games being during the school holidays 📺 -29% drop in ITV traffic, due to the BBC streaming the Olympics 📱 Socials were on fire: Facebook saw increases in daily volume of +7% and X up by +11% 💬 Our customers were messaging each other more: Snapchat increasing by +8% and WhatsApp by +7% And in France, there was a +33% uplift in data roaming volume during the games, compared to the same period last year. During the games, France took the number 1 spot for outbound roaming data usage, a position always held by Spain! #Paris2024 #OlympicGames #ThreeUK
