I was arrested by a single sentence in a book I read this week.   "Children who grew up travelling by horse and burning wood for heat in 1900, spent their final days travelling by aeroplane and living in houses warmed by the splitting of the atom."     My grandmother saw those changes happen in under 60 years, well before her grandchildren were born.     The book, by Mustafa Suleyman, speculates about the transformations we will see in the 21st century. Some of which we can now imagine but most of which are utterly incomprehensible to us.    As the pace of change accelerates, it's up to all of us as organisational leaders to explore the inevitable immediate future. It is our job to provide the care and foresight our organisations and customers deserve.   Many imminent opportunities and challenges can now be understood, with the impact of AI at the top of the list.    Please ensure you understand enough to have a plan that will shape the contribution your organisation makes over the next 5 years. The future can be so positive providing you make it rather than take it.
