What a week for the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT)! As well as the exciting announcement that the IFRS Foundation will assume responsibility for the TPT's disclosure-specific materials, we have also been busy participating in a range of events as part of London Climate Action Week! #LCAW2024 LCAW transition plan highlights included the 'ISSB Standards: One Year On' market open at London Stock Exchange, the Principles for Responsible Investment 'Investing for sustainability impacts and advancing the UK transition' event, the Giki and Race to Zero 'Transition plans: the crucial next step to Net Zero' roundtable, Kate Levick and Celine Herweijer's Climate Action | Innovation Forum fireside chat, and Nina Pimblett representing the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) at the launch of Climate Arc's TransitionArc tool... and many other great events! 📣 IFRS Foundation to assume responsibility for key materials developed by the Transition Plan Taskforce 📣 The IFRS Foundation announced this morning that it will assume responsibility for the disclosure-specific materials developed by the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT). It will: 1️⃣ house these materials on the IFRS Sustainability Knowledge Hub, 2️⃣ in the near term, use these materials to develop educational materials, and 3️⃣ over time, use these materials when considering the need to enhance the application guidance within IFRS S2. Speaking on a panel with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)’s Vice Chair Sue Lloyd, the TPT’s co-chair Amanda Blanc welcomed this decision, which marks an important milestone in the creation of global norms for transition plan disclosure. We look forward to working with the IFRS Foundation over the coming months to support this process. Great to see continued support for credible transition planning reflected in the final version of Australia's Sustainable Finance Roadmap, released yesterday. The Roadmap includes a commitment for the Australian Commonwealth Treasury to develop and publish best practice guidance for the disclosure of corporate #transitionplans by the end of 2025. This guidance will consider emerging domestic and international frameworks including the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT)'s Disclosure Framework, and work coming out of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group and the International Platform on Sustainable Finance. Fantastic to see new analysis from CDP showing that businesses disclosing climate #transitionplans has jumped nearly 50% “Transition plans are now an essential part of any organisation's forward-looking strategy. CDP’s data points to the increased value of using the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT)'s best practice disclosure framework to ensure their reporting is comprehensive, robust and credible. I would urge all companies to get started on their transition plan in order to stay ahead of the curve, and continue to disclose those plans year on year to ensure they continue to align with best practice.” says Kate Levick, Co-head of the TPT Secretariat and Associate Director, Finance & Resilience, E3G. 👇 Check out the full report below
