There’s only one thing we love to celebrate more than our portfolio of award-winning wines: the talented people who craft them. One example of the diverse talent in the team is David Dahlenburg, our Maintenance Planner in our Barossa Valley Winery, and an an avid photographer – specialising in the remote South Australian landscape. We were delighted to hear that he recently took home two accolades in the prestigious 2024 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition, winning the Portfolio Prize for his collection of six images named ‘Grotesque Beauty’, and coming runner up in the Human Impact category. “I'm thrilled to be announced the 2024 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Portfolio winner, and it was an added bonus to be the runner up in the Human Impact category. The photos I entered are part of a larger body of work titled 'Altitude South'. Together with fellow photographers Paul Hoelen and Tim Wrate, we’ve flown 8000km around South Australia in light planes: it’s the biggest project of its kind in South Australian history,” said Dave. Take a look at the shortlisted entries, including Dave's photos at the South Australian Museum: https://lnkd.in/gTZ4JUs

Throughout August we celebrated Global Safety Month with the theme of 'Safety Done Well' in support of our goal to foster a culture of safety excellence. Team members from all corners of Treasury Wine Estates took part in online and in person activities with a focus on growing understanding of how we'll build safe together. Highlights of the month were our 'Spotlight on Safety' interviews and panel conversations which saw teams share their innovative safety, technology and sustainability initiatives. From the basics of hazard and risk identification in the workplace to the integration of automation and robotics in our vineyards (check out the autonomous tractor!), teams from our offices to our wineries demonstrated how they continue to make safety a priority. We also addressed mental wellness as a safety priority by partnering with The Resilience Project to demonstrate how gratitude, empathy and mindfulness help drive positive outcomes – an absolute hit among our team members – and a great reminder that safety takes many forms.

When it comes to sustainability at TWE, our ambition is to cultivate a brighter future for everyone who touches our business.    We're so proud of our team at Matua Winery who are passionately caring for the environment. They've been using TerraCycle Australia & New Zealand to collect and recycle disposable ear plugs, gloves, masks, safety glasses, and garments. Last harvest alone, they recycled 20kgs of gear using the collection point!   Find out more about how we're cultivating a brighter future when we release our 2024 Sustainability Report in the coming weeks.  #Sustainability #Recycling #Winemaking

Cheers to Matua Winery (a Treasury Wine Estates brand), pioneer of Sauvignon Blanc production in Aotearoa and leader of sustainable winemaking 🥂. Based in New Zealand’s famous Marlborough wine region, Matua Winery is committed to sustainable practices in vineyard management and winemaking. The winery has introduced multiple collection points to collect and recycle disposable gloves, ear plugs, disposable masks, safety glasses, and disposable garments using the Safety Equipment and Protective Gear - Zero Waste Box™. Caitlyn Cathcart, Laboratory Supervisor, says, “We’re always looking for ways we can improve our recycling processes, and the Zero Waste Boxes are a great solution for us to ensure we can responsibly recycle some of the safety equipment we use here on site.” Want to make a change for the better like Matua Winery? The most rewarding recognition comes from your community. That’s why we’re so proud to have received three awards – nominated and voted for by our community and guests in Napa Valley.   Our Sterling Vineyards winery has been recognised in the Napa Valley Register’s ‘Best in Wine’ for 2024 in three categories: Best Wine Tour, Best Outdoor Wine Tasting and Best Winery View. It’s a welcome recognition for the team who reopened to the public only last year after closing to repair the damage sustained in the September 2020 Napa Valley Glass Fire.   Founded in 1964, Sterling Vineyards treats guests to the natural beauty and incredible views of Diamond Mountain and Mount Saint Helena. Sterling’s views can be enjoyed from the world’s only winery aerial gondola on the self-guided Sterling Stroll tour or other elevated experiences. Celebrated as one of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon regions in the world, Coonawarra in South Australia and Wynns Coonawarra Estate are deeply intertwined. We might be a bit biased, but we think the incredible Sue Hodder, Wynns Senior Winemaker, and the team set the standard for the best Cabernet Sauvignon in Australia. Happy International Cabernet Sauvignon Day to those who celebrate! 🍷 #InternationalCabernetSauvignonDay #Wine #Winemaking

Our Beringer Vineyards team was honoured to host the inaugural event and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the long-awaited opening of the Napa Valley Vine Trail section running from St Helena to Calistoga. The picturesque section of the trail adds 8.2 miles to the project started in 2008 by the Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition, including donated land from Beringer and Sterling Vineyards. Once fully completed, the 47-mile community-supported biking and walking path will connect the entire Napa Valley from Calistoga to Vallejo. 🚴♂️🚶♀️ #Tourism #Winery #Wine

It was fantastic to see our teams take part in WINE ENG 2024, the annual Winery Engineering Association (WEA) conference, last week to showcase our commitment to delivering today, and building tomorrow.   Special shout out to our team members Jorge H., Tom Tierney and Lenah Rasmussen who presented on how we're embracing robotics, electrification and CO2 management at Treasury Wine Estates.   We were thrilled to open the doors and host tours of our Barossa Valley Winery to show our cutting-edge automation system featuring driverless forklifts, a custom barrel management software system, automated barrel washing and filling facilities, and individual barrel identification.
