A B Lab UK-certified B-Corp investment manager with £13.5B AUM, Octopus Investments recently announced the launch of its natural capital strategy. Together, we have been awarded an “Unlocking Space for Business” grant from the UK Space Agency to streamline natural capital investment with the power of earth observation. Building upon Treeconomy’s Sherwood platform and core dMRV offerings, we will be collaborating to embed the use of satellite data into Octopus’s project due diligence, evaluation, and reporting processes. Our new partnership aims to support more streamlined, confident, and impactful allocation of private finance towards high-quality nature restoration efforts across carbon and natural capital markets. 🛰️ We’re truly honoured to be spotlighted by the European Space Agency - ESA's Business Incubation Centre! We were selected to join ESA BIC in 2021 under the Satellite Applications Catapult, which gave us invaluable insights into earth observation and land management monitoring via experts from the University of Leicester. This was a critical piece of work that helped us eventually get to where we are today, building satellite-based tree counting at scale over the next three years. Our tech-driven tree counting and carbon project assessments provide transparency, scientific rigour, and efficiency for carbon removal buyers and investors, which we hope will eventually bridge critical funding gaps for nature restoration.
