Volunteers are the heart of our Foundation. It had been a while since we last saw everyone in person, so what better way to reconnect than with a sunny picnic in the park! The weather was on our side, and the day was filled with volleyball (Armend looked Olympic-ready in his full kit), delicious food (though we’re still recovering from Ambra's ‘cake’) and plenty of laughter. We also met some new faces who weren’t messing around—Esmerjan, Emir and Edi jumped right into the volleyball action. While the volleyball match heated up (shout out to Agred, Brian, Ermal, Driton, Ditmir, Laura and Sofiana for those spikes and dives), we set up a cosy spot under the trees for our volunteers to relax (Blerina and Behiye) and for the kids to play. It was a delightful mix of action and adorable chaos. As we reflect on this day, we’re honoured to celebrate our amazing volunteers. Thank you for everything you do. For those who couldn’t make it, we’re looking forward to more events where we can all get together soon!

Gjurmë Iliriane, also known as the Albanian Heritage Club, is a children's club where over 100 young members of Albanian origin gather weekly. The club provides an opportunity for children to learn the Albanian language, explore traditions and connect with their cultural heritage. Recently, Sanda Eglite, the founder of Gjurmë Iliriane, was featured on the BBC! Last week, UKAP Foundation volunteers had the opportunity (and pleasure!) to attend a masterclass webinar on leadership perspectives with Elona Mortimer-Zhika, CEO of IRIS Software Group. Earlier this year, Elona joined us for a UKAP Foundation panel event where she discussed her career trajectory and the impact of her Albanian heritage. We were interested in further exploring her views on effective leadership and she was generous enough to dedicate some of her evening to a more in-depth discussion.
