August is a month of significant news for many, especially for those receiving their A-level and SQA results. If you're about to embark on a new journey after finishing school, here’s some advice to guide you 👇 1️⃣ First and foremost - celebrate. A-level results are about more than just the grades on the paper—it's about acknowledging the journey you’ve been on, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the personal growth you’ve experienced along the way. Take a deep breath, give yourself a pat on the back, and enjoy the celebration with your close friends and family. 2️⃣ Stay grounded - It’s normal to feel anxious about the future, but remember that uncertainty also brings a wealth of opportunities. Keep your emotions in check and embrace the possibilities ahead. 3️⃣ Explore your options - You will have many interests in your life, give yourself the opportunity to pursue them. If your results aren’t what you hoped for, explore other pathways. 4️⃣ Listen to yourself - Focus on what you want, picture where you want to be in the future. If you decide it’s a specific degree, or in general university - start your research. 5️⃣ Seek help - You don’t have to do this alone. Talk to friends, family, or teachers about your feelings and concerns. Having someone to share your thoughts with can ease anxiety and provide perspective. 👉🏫And if you decide that your path leads you to university, upReach is here to support you.. You can pre-register for our free career support now, and we will be in touch with you when you start university: https://lnkd.in/dmRerVis

Last month, 10 of our Associates participated in a Mock Assessment Day at Macfarlanes. The day was extremely beneficial in providing valuable insight into Macfarlanes and equipping Associates with practical experience to excel in Assessment Centres. 🚀 The day began with some top tips on navigating Macfarlanes’ recruitment processes, followed by a negotiation exercise, written task, commercial awareness workshop and interview preparation before having a mock interview with Senior Associates at the firm. Throughout the day Associates had the opportunity to network with trainees, who shared their experiences and pathway into the firm. ✨ The opportunity to network and gain experience from organisations like Macfarlanes makes a huge difference to the career journey of individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. This work is essential in breaking down barriers to social mobility, and we are extremely grateful to all of the volunteers and partners that gave their time to help us at upReach, with a particular thanks to Isabella Strafford-Antonio and Katie Cavanagh. 🙌 If you think that you or someone you know could benefit from the support we offer at upReach please visit our website to find out more https://upreach.org.uk/ #LawCareers #LegalCareers #CareerSupport #CareerDevelopment

A huge thank you to iQ Student Accommodation for their incredible fundraising campaign, JumpStart for Social Mobility! 🚀 iQ colleagues were asked to skip in the name of social mobility, opting to either Try it: Complete 11 skips, Endure it: Skip for 11 mins, or Speed up: Most number of skips in 11 minutes. The amazing iQers raised a whopping £27,500 for upReach, funding 11 spaces on the iQ Thrive Academy. 💥 We are extremely grateful to iQ Student Accommodation for this fantastic initiative raising not only awareness for social mobility, upReach and our mission but also raising a substantial amount of money to support even more students from lower socio-economic backgrounds to access and sustain top Graduate Jobs. #iQStudentAccommodation #JumpStart #Fundraiser

The racist violence, riots and intimidation that we have witnessed across the country have been incredibly distressing, and we recognise that this has left many feeling anxious and fearful for their safety and well-being. Racism has no place in our society; we stand in solidarity and support with all those who are impacted. We are encouraged by the unity, humanity and resilience on show in communities as they come together, and seek to embody these values in our own upReach community. Our highest priority is always ensuring the safety and comfort of our Associates; if you are concerned about travelling to any upReach events over the coming weeks, please reach out to your Programme Coordinator so that we can offer support. Our work is going ahead as planned and we are constantly monitoring the ongoing situation across the country and will provide event-specific guidance as needed. Here are some additional resources that may be beneficial: - Mind - Provides insight into how racism can affect mental health & extra resources - YoungMinds- Provides insight into how racism can affect mental health - Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH) - email, phone, live chat, text support & online resources.

As part of celebrating our 35th anniversary and our growth, we're enhancing our corporate social responsibility (#CSI) efforts to invest in the future of others.     Beyond our ongoing #socialinvestment activities, we’ve developed a special anniversary initiative aimed at empowering future generations.     These include:  🏢 Boosting income and employment opportunities by working with upReach, a charity which supports students from less-advantaged backgrounds secure top jobs.  🌳 Creating greener environments by partnering with Groundwork, planting a minimum of 20 trees per BW office location (totalling at least 180 trees nationwide).  🥫 Providing food for communities in need by donating to The Trussell Trust foodbanks in each of our operating locations.    Find out more on our web page: https://lnkd.in/e9Ue9x5x

🧑💻 Last week we hosted our fourth annual Tech500 Bootcamp! Our biggest tech event of the year featured: ⭐ 70+ Associates ⭐3 days in-person in London, across 4 different locations ⭐2 days of virtual sessions, with choices between 13 different topics ⭐Inspiring talks, group projects, presentations and hands-on learning across a range of industry-standard technology ⭐ Plus, all travel expenses, accommodation and food provided! We started off on Monday 22nd July with Microsoft at their Enfield office, hearing from Kellie Carlton and Nicholas McQuire on their careers and the future of tech, a Career Journeys panel, and an app-making challenge that had Associates needing to think on their feet. On Tuesday, we were at JMAN Group, in which Associates had the chance to take on the roles of Project Managers, Data Analysts and Management Consultants in an all-day Client Consulting Project, and develop their public speaking skills with a final presentation. Our final in-person day allowed Associates to choose between a Finance Game and Coding Challenge at G-Research or a UX Design Challenge day at BNY, both of which were incredibly engaging and immersive! Our virtual days on Thursday and Friday included talks from a brilliant range of employers across the sector, with Mercedes-AMG, Actica Consulting, iQ Student Accommodation, Capital One, Alteryx, Reply, Adaptive Financial Consulting, Capgemini and Ki Insurance taught Associates about #SoftwareEngineering, #Cybersecurity, #GenerativeAI and much more! None of this would have been possible without the generous support of The Hg Foundation, and we wanted to extend a huge thank you to them for enabling us to provide such a valuable experience to our Associates and iQ for providing our accommodation 💯 👏 #Tech500Bootcamp #SocialMobility #DigitalSkills #STEM

“It was really beneficial…to hear different views and perspectives on how to become a better professional…[and] I have been able to implement the teachings in this professional development course at my workplace… to receive a great feedback from my manager on my improvement.” That’s a wrap! 🎯 Our Professional Development Course in collaboration with volunteers from FactSet has officially come to an end, after 5 weeks of intensive learning and skills development. Our last three sessions focused on #mentorship and #sponsorship, delving into their differences, benefits and how to secure them, as well as #interview tips and #practice. The last session focused on networking, between the Alumni themselves, upReach staff as well as FactSet professionals. Thank you to the FactSet Charitable Foundation for supporting us in making the Course happen and to our Alumni for making the most of it! ✨ #SocialMobility #Alumni #upReach #ProfessionalDevelopment
