Vertical Future is a global vertical farming technology and data company, founded in 2016, and Global Innovator in the World Economic Forum. Our team design, manufacture, and build a range of proprietary hardware and software technologies, including an integrated vertical farming system – fully automated from seed through to harvest. Powered by its proprietary “DIANA” SaaS system that tracks, analyses, and improves the entirety of the growing process together with underpinning crop science carried out in-house, Vertical Future is building a global network of data-enriched, smart farms. Vertical Future’s partners, customers, and farms can be found across the UK and globally including the Middle East, Singapore and Australia. Growing using a Vertical Future system means greater efficiency, higher quality crops, less land use, and enhanced water and fertiliser conservation compared to broadacre and glasshouse production methods. Part 3 of the Global Vertical Farming Show pre-event webinar is out 👏 Jamie Burrows our Founder and CEO shared his thoughts on the challenges in the sector and the importance of, when setting up operations in other regions, establishing a network, truly understanding the needs and fully preparing.  Jamie spoke about how the technology-innovation curve is not yet catching up with the needs of the region relating to produce such as grains and the requirement for cross-sector collaboration between academia and the private sector, as the needed developments will take time. What a week last week during ‘London Climate Action Week’! 👏🙌🍃♻️ First stop for us was the Barclays ‘Sustainable Agriculture: Protecting Generations to Come’ event held at The Conduit, which was an inspiring way to start the week and had some excellent speakers from across the industry, including from the Soil Association, Tesco, Nature Friendly Farming Network and Agricarbon. Thursday we attended a World Economic Forum and City of London Corporation panel discussion at Mansion House - the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London - which we were invited to attend as a WEF Global Innovator. The event brought together government, civil society leaders and businesses and focused on how we can enable a nature-positive and net-zero economy through sustainable finance and policy frameworks 🌍 The evening concluded in style with the London Climate Action Week Gala at Guildhall, a night bringing together key representation across the climate ecosystem to celebrate important achievements in climate action and to look ahead at positive global initiatives 🎉 On Friday, last but by no means least, we were at a Food Tank event at the Google HQ in London, where speakers delved into the intersection of food, technology, investment, and the climate crisis💡 Great work Grant Macdonald and Svetlana Frantuz from our Commercial team for their efforts during this action-packed week! Events are an important means to foster discussions, but it goes without saying that action is even more important. Last month we had the pleasure of hosting a shareholders' meeting for our valued shareholders at The Conduit in London. These face-to-face meetings are key and it was great to see some friendly faces - some of whom had travelled long distances specially to attend. Last week our Founder & CEO Jamie Burrows had the pleasure of being invited to participate in a panel at the UK-Saudi Sustainable Infrastructure Summit at Plaisterers' Hall in London, hosted by the City of London Corporation, Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC), and NEOM. Speakers discussed some of the key topics of our time, including the importance and development of Sustainable Infrastructure projects, financing and the future of green technologies. The event explored what makes a sustainable city and what our cities will look like at the turn of the next century💡 Huge thanks to all involved - it was fascinating to learn and understand more about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s plans for its rollout of various Giga projects structured around NEOM.
