With women represent only 16% of the construction workforce and just 4% being site managers, the industry is facing a major skills shortage so we are working with our partners towards attraction and upskilling in the industry and to address gender imbalance. Housebuilders from across the country, in a scheme being led by the Home Builders Federation are looking to attract more women into site management roles in the industry. 🏡 HBF are launching the fifth cohort of its Women into Home Building programme, a programme that has so far engaged 238 women, successfully guided 65 candidates through training and work experience and supported 20 candidates into employment within the industry. Applications for the programme close at 5pm on September 22. Women interested in the programme can apply on the HBF website here: https://bit.ly/4cC3QaK

Please welcome to Vistry Group our newest trainees. Last week we welcomed our new cohort of RISE trainees into the business. The 17 new starters spent the week at our office in Brentwood to find out more about Vistry Group, with talks from a series of senior leaders, including People Director Danica McLean FCIPD and Divisional Chairs, Darren Maddox and Chris Bladon, and information sessions about topics including social value, rewards & benefits and sustainability. This week, the trainees will be joining their regional offices to embark on their journey into their selected discipline - construction, commercial or design and technical. As part of the programme the trainees will be enrolled on a level 4 apprenticeship relevant to their chosen career path whilst learning on the job. Thank you to the Future Talent team and all those involved in facilitating the welcome week and best of luck to our new trainees!

The Vistry SHE Team have set out to deliver workshops across the country in all of Vistry’s 26 regions during September & October to build relationships with our supply chain and work together to improve standards across our sites even further and share best practice to help reduce accidents. We have invited our groundwork’s partners for this series, many of whom I know have implemented some amazing initiatives in recent months to keep people safe! Positive feedback like this makes me feel even more proud of my team, well done all. Vistry Group Kelly Alton CMIOSH Emma Clutterbuck Grace Williamson

Today we issued our half year results for the period ended 30 June. You can read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/eXvT5Cqu This time last year Vistry shifted its strategy to focus on building homes in partnership. In practice, that means the majority of the homes we build are now sold to our 141 partners before we even start building.   This partnership approach enables us to build more of the high-quality homes Britain needs. And it’s why, this year, we expect to build 18,000 new homes – thousands more than anyone else. It’s also why we’re on track to build 1 in 6 of the UK’s new affordable homes. And this approach enables us to build high-quality homes more quickly – because pre-selling the majority of our homes gives us the certainty we need to get building.   But we do more than just build homes - we create communities people want to live in. We are now committing to generate £120,000 of Social Value against every £1m we spend building; that means creating community allotments, skills academies, wildflower gardens and much more.   And we’re delivering all that while maintaining our 5* HBF customer service rating (for five years in a row). And we’ve celebrated 45 quality award wins too.   One year from our change in strategy and Vistry is now Britain’s biggest homebuilder, our business is growing and we’re building more homes than ever before.    Our partnership approach sets us up well for the future too. We support the direction of the Government’s policy changes and we’re uniquely positioned to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Government’s housing targets. We believe we’re best placed to help the Government address the housing crisis, and we can help drive growth in the UK through housing development and the economic benefits that brings.   None of this would have been possible without the support of our colleagues at Vistry, our valued partners and our suppliers – a huge thank you to all of you.

Construction work has started at a new village which will comprise up to 2,500 homes on the edge of Swindon. Senior figures from our Cotswolds team along with SNG (Sovereign Network Group) and Swindon Borough Council gathered to formally place the first spade in the ground at Lotmead. The development, which is a joint venture between Vistry and SNG, has been planned to include a local centre, two primary schools, sports hub and green space on a 417-acre site to the east of Wanborough Road. Lotmead forms part of the wider New Eastern Villages project which is set to provide around 8,000 new homes alongside a range of new employment, health, retail, education and leisure facilities. #Partnerships #AffordableHousing Read more here: https://bit.ly/3MnhrIl

We are looking forward to delivering 274 new homes in Ordsall after Salford City Council agreed an enabling works contract.   The council went to tender in early 2023 to find a contractor to deliver the project that will see the transformation of circa 10 acres of brownfield land off Robert Hall Street and West Park Street.   The collaboration will see the delivery of 137 homes and 137 apartments, 40% of which will be affordable and managed by the council’s local housing company, Derive. There will be improvements to existing public open space and the creation of new public parks. Additionally, all of the homes will be designed to meet the “Salford Standard” which exceeds the Future Homes Standard.
