Watching social media content is never passive. And you might not even realise it. Maybe you like, comment or share - or maybe you simply feel something, an emotional response - or maybe there’s an ‘action’ point, you go on to think or do something differently. When it comes to sports content, research from We are Family - UK's Global Kids Sports Report shows that it can drive participation among young children, ie, they take an ‘action’. And so this is an opportunity for media and creatives to think about how we can best serve children with sports content, for not only for enjoyment, but to encourage them to get involved, with all the physical and mental health aspects that brings. But there’s a challenge. 40% of young children in the UK rarely or never watch live sport on TV... A wonderful opportunity to join the 'Sports Wins' panel at The Children's Media Conference, to discus how social media can be harnessed to generate fandom, to inspire young children, and how sport can be a fantastic conduit for telling stories about wider society.
