WilkinsonEyre is delighted to announce the appointment of Melissa Clinch and Ayman El Hibri to the role of Director. These promotions follow the practice’s restructure to an Employee Ownership Trust in March 2023, which took place as part of our ongoing succession strategy, and has opened up opportunities for new directors to further the ongoing development of the business. The pair will focus on growing the practice’s business in the UK and internationally, whilst strengthening its Social Value and Sustainability offer through research and project development. “WilkinsonEyre has recently enjoyed a period of great success with an expanding spread of projects in the UK including Battersea Power Station, 8 Bishopsgate, HS2 Old Oak Common, and 21 Moorfields; as well as a growing international portfolio including One Bangaroo in Sydney and CIBC Square in Toronto” said Oliver Tyler, the practice’s Managing Director. “The addition of Melissa and Ayman as Directors will continue this positive growth whilst bolstering our management team for the future.” Melissa and Ayman join Edward Daines, who was recently promoted to Director of our Australian studio in Sydney and is leading WilkinsonEyre’s growth in the region. Battersea Power Station announced as a winner of The RIBA National Awards 2024! It was announced earlier today that the Grade II* listed Power Station is amongst 26 projects to win The RIBA National Awards 2024, having been selected from a list of over 100 regional winners. The announcement has led to fantastic coverage across leading publications such as Country and Town House, naming Battersea Power Station as ‘One of The UK’s Best Buildings’. RIBA described Battersea Power Station as ‘a deeply impressive scheme that combines carefully restored heritage assets, high-quality homes, and a contemporary retail experience, all tied together with an industrial aesthetic appropriate to the original power station’s awesome scale and character.’ Congratulations also to WilkinsonEyre, who were the lead architects on the restoration of the Grade II* listed landmark, which sits at the heart of our new 42-acre riverside neighbourhood, transformed from a derelict ruin into a new town centre with over 140 shops, restaurants, bars and leisure venues for visitors to explore in and around the iconic landmark.

Constructed in 2003, The Bridge of Aspiration has been shortlisted for an Architecture Today Award. Celebrating 'buildings that stand the test of time', these awards show elegant, timeless and truly sustainable architecture in action. Twisting high above Floral Street in Covent Garden, the Bridge of Aspiration provides the dancers of the Royal Ballet School with a direct link to the Grade I listed Royal Ballet and Opera.
Three projects from Howells, Maccreanor Lavington and WilkinsonEyre have been named as finalists in the Infrastructure & Public Realm category for the 2024 Architecture Today Awards! Read about them all below! https://lnkd.in/eycZWwZm

We continue our 40th-anniversary celebration by highlighting some of WilkinsonEyre’s most influential transportation projects, including the Elizabeth Line, Liverpool Street Station. Our architectural approach was driven by the desire to maximise height in constrained spaces and introduce as much daylight as possible to the subterranean areas. A shallow, geometric folded ceiling plane formed by ribbed pre-cast concrete soffit panels breaks the perception of the low flat ceilings to create a greater sense of space, scale and movement. Oliver Tyler led the design through several iterations since 1992. In the article linked below, he describes the design journey and the constraints faced by the team on this slowly evolving project which finally opened in May 2022. We continue our 40th-anniversary celebration by highlighting some of WilkinsonEyre’s most influential transportation projects. Delivering transport infrastructure has been a significant part of our history and remains a key aspect of our current work. Our in-depth experience in this field began with two major commissions for London Underground’s Jubilee Line Extension in the 1990s: Stratford Regional Station and Stratford Market Depot. Stratford Market Depot was WilkinsonEyre's first major new-build project, awarded through a design competition. The brief required a complex that included train maintenance, stabling facilities and extensive office and ancillary buildings. The ideal solution for the main train shed was a 'supershed' – an industrial building of considered design, offering flexible and durable space. The redevelopment of Stratford Regional Station as the Jubilee Line’s new terminus was also awarded through a competition. The challenge was to develop functional yet beautiful railway architecture in the heart of the public domain. The station would later serve as the main arrival point for visitors to the London 2012 Olympics.
