“Not more than 10 days after the first Houthi attack, Windward released insights for the vessels and route deviated from the Red Sea. That saved us time, as our colleagues didn’t need to monitor where exactly the vessels were based and heading towards, as this was done automatically by Windward in mySGL. That was really powerful, especially during December and January when the situation was very new,” said Thomas Sandkvist Andersen, Global Head of Operations, Scan Global Logistics. See how Windward empowers a key customer to be prepared for unforeseen challenges in our latest case study. ⬇️ #Houthi #RedSea #MaritimeIndustry

The recent rail shutdown in Canada, which ended on August 26, continues to impact the supply chain, with potential economic repercussions across North America. Sources estimate the shutdown affected around $1 billion worth of goods daily, leading to significant congestion at major ports, such as the Port of Vancouver. Windward Ocean Freight Visibility recently added the Delayed ETA exception, alerting customers of any delays exceeding five days with their shipments. Our platform shows that shipments with carrier ETAs between August 22-September 2, 2024, are experiencing significant delays – particularly on August 30 and September 2, with delays averaging 6 to 17 days. Our analysis suggests potential congestion in Vancouver during the first two weeks of September. As shown in the image below, vessels arriving in Vancouver may be delayed, and these delays may extend to onward destinations, such as Ontario, by rail or land routes. Staying on top of these developments is essential to keeping land carriers informed, as they are likely facing delays as well. Follow us to stay informed as we continue to monitor the situation. #SupplyChain #Logistics #Maritime

“We have very high confidence in the location (GNSS) manipulation cases we present. If we say it’s a GNSS case it is, because we know exactly when they start and end. We are able to review every single case, because our technology is so accurate. Too many false positives means you wouldn’t be able to go over everything,” says Ruth Ben Chaim, Data Validation Expert at Windward, when asked how Windward can be so confident that it is right about the cases it flags. We sat down with two of our experts to explore how our recently integrated advanced deep learning technology in our Location (GNSS) Manipulation Risk model helps customers stay on top of this morphing deceptive shipping practice. Read more in our blog post. 👇 #GNSS #RiskManagement #MaritimeIndustry

On August 23, OFAC imposed new sanctions on 400 individuals and entities, targeting those who enable Russia to evade sanctions and sustain its war effort. Among the sanctions were 7 LNG tankers linked to Russia’s Arctic LNG2 project, now part of the developing Russian LNG “shadow fleet.” Using Windward’s Sequence Search, we reverse-engineered the behavior of these vessels before they were sanctioned and uncovered patterns that could proactively identify other at-risk vessels. Here’s what we found: 🇳🇴Pattern 1: A visit to Norway and Svalbard followed by a port call in Sabetta, was shared by 4 of the 7 sanctioned vessels 🛑 Pattern 2: Slow speed activity in the Barents Sea, coupled with a first-time visit, was shared by 3 LNG vessels we flagged for GNSS manipulation. With the right technology, like Windward’s Organization Defined Risk (ODR), you don’t have to wait for sanctions to hit and proactively configure such patterns as risk profiles and indications. 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02MvBTp0 #Sanctions #MaritimeSecurity #RiskManagement

Our analysts used a satellite imagery overlay from Planet to reveal a jamming location off Sudan’s coast, confirming that no vessels were actually present, despite what first appeared to be a huge spike in slow-speed vessel activities. This highlights the power of Windward’s Early Detection Model, which flagged this anomaly in real-time, leading to the discovery of wide-scale GPS jamming. Why and how is this happening? Read the report 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02Mvv0c0 #MaritimeSecurity #AIS #Sudan
