The Americas region is one of the most vulnerable to climate change – being home to 13 out of the 50 most affected countries by climate impacts. Work across the WorldGBC Americas Regional Network continues to gain momentum as Green Building Councils (GBCs) unite under the Zero Carbon and Climate Resilience Readiness Framework. The project brings together GBCs across the network to lead on the identification of main opportunities, challenges and enabling actions which can drive building decarbonisation and resilience through national and regional roadmaps. We are thrilled to confirm the collaboration of El Salvador Green Building Council, Paraguay Green Building Council, Ecuador Green Building Council, Venezuala Green Building Council and Panama Green Building Council in this project. The roadmaps will lay a path for how the building and construction sector can lead the transition in a diverse region so we can achieve a more energy efficient, decarbonised and climate resilience built environment, transforming challenges into opportunities with a regional and global impact. What an incredible week we had at the WorldGBC Leadership Summit on 24–27 June 2024. Thank you to all the Green Building Councils (GBCs) and sustainability leaders from around the world who joined us in person or supported the event online. We hope you found the week as inspiring, energising and empowering as we did. Did you know that each year, concrete emits 2.3 billion tonnes of CO2 and iron and steel contribute an additional 2.6 billion tonnes? Together, they’re responsible for 15% of global emissions. Ramboll and the Climate Group have created a survey to investigate the market interest in lower emission alternatives. They are seeking to pinpoint challenges and solutions for increasing the availability and adoption of lower emission concrete and steel within key industries, such as energy, infrastructure, construction, and manufacturing. Follow this link to take part in the survey: https://lnkd.in/d9jDJ_Db The deadline for the survey is 26 July 2024. #BuildingTheTransition

What a week it’s been! Our Leadership Summit and Global Solutions Forum have concluded, and we are grateful for the connections made, the colleagues who could join us and the goals we have set which will truly drive momentum for the future. The Summit brought together our extensive global network. There were more than 50 GBCs present, over half of our network; and we were joined by a range of partners, colleagues, leaders, friends and incredible speakers, who took us on a journey of unity and transformation. Together, we truly built momentum on a global scale to create a better future. We challenged the status quo and set the stage for change; to target nothing less than the total decarbonisation of our sector. We must leverage the built environment as a key solution to the climate challenge. It’s no secret that our time for action is running out; but working together with industry leaders, investment experts and sustainability specialists, we’ve been laying the foundations for aligning industry, policy, and finance to ensure we achieve our global #decarbonisation and resilience goals. Let’s make it count. Let’s keep #BuildingTheTransition. Thank you to everyone who made this week a possibility and a success. Keep an eye on our social media for more photos and videos from the events. https://bit.ly/3Uzjw7M #LCAW24
