Meet Dr. Papa Kojo Mbroh, an Emergency Medicine Specialist who has been volunteering with Worldwide Radiology for the past three years. Driven by his passion for learning, teaching, and a love for Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Dr Mbroh has taken on key roles such as teaching, planning, assessing, and mentoring students. One of Dr Mbroh’s most rewarding experiences has been helping students improve and grow in their skills. Volunteering with us has kept his POCUS skills up to date, and he enjoys the opportunity to mentor others while staying connected with fellow experts in the field. He believes strongly in the importance of this work, particularly in regions where access to healthcare is limited. Teaching POCUS not only helps the learners but also has a positive impact on their communities. We are incredibly grateful for Dr Mbroh’s commitment and passion. His journey with us highlights the real difference volunteering can make, both personally and professionally. 🌍💙 #VolunteerSpotlight #WorldwideRadiology #POCUS #MakingADifference

Did you know that fewer than 30 radiologists serve a population of over 19 million people in Malawi? This stark reality highlights the severe gap in access to essential diagnostic imaging, which is crucial for timely and accurate healthcare. In a country where healthcare resources are already stretched thin, this shortage means that many people, especially in rural areas, struggle to get the imaging services they need for proper diagnosis and treatment. At Worldwide Radiology, we’re working to address part of this challenge through the Malawi Radiology Collaboration project. While we know there’s much more to be done, every bit of training and support can help bridge the gap in Malawi’s healthcare system. Together, we can help improve access to diagnostic imaging and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. #Radiology #MalawiHealthcare #GlobalHealth #POCUS #HealthcareTraining #WorldwideRadiology #ImagingForAll

Over 80% of Malawi’s population lives in rural areas with limited access to healthcare facilities. This means millions of people face significant challenges in getting the medical care they need, especially when it comes to diagnostics and specialized treatments. At Worldwide Radiology, we’re working to bridge this gap by providing training in diagnostic imaging to healthcare workers in these underserved areas. It’s a small step, but we believe that improving skills and knowledge can make a big difference in helping communities access the care they deserve. #RuralHealth #HealthcareAccess #MalawiRadiology #GlobalHealth #WorldwideRadiology

Malawi faces a critical maternal health challenge, with one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world—439 deaths per 100,000 live births, according to WHO*. A significant part of this crisis stems from limited access to diagnostic tools and a shortage of skilled healthcare workers. Through the Malawi Radiology Collaboration project, Worldwide Radiology is working to address these challenges by offering training to local healthcare workers in the use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). By equipping healthcare workers with the skills to use POCUS, we hope to help them identify complications earlier and provide more accurate care to expectant mothers. We recognise that we’re only scratching the surface, but we’re committed to making a difference where we can. Every bit of progress matters, and we’re proud to support the healthcare community in Malawi. #MaternalHealth #MalawiRadiology #GlobalHealth #POCUS #HealthcareTraining #WorldwideRadiology * World Health Organization, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank Group, and the United Nations Population Division, 2019.
