Often new technologies launch as a minimum viable product, in some technologies like software, the product is never finished and the developers will continue to work on new features and optimising the current features enjoyed by users. It may also be that older features may even become discontinued by a developer too. With this in mind, it is essential to keep informed of new developments which might enhance your work further. ✅ Define how you will use the tech personally, in teams and across the business. Regularly review. ✅ Keep updated and aware of new major updates and trial the features ✅ Give feedback to the creators of the tech as it helps them do better and improve things for their users. ✅ Join communities to keep updated

If anything is certain in life, it's that change is a constant and so approaching this with enthusiasm or a growth mindset will help in adapting the evolution of work often offered by new technologies. ✅ Assess changes on their merits relative to you, your business, your customer's needs. ✅ Take time to explore, compare results, measure outputs and assess usability. ✅ Workshop new platforms and technologies with colleagues to see how they might adapt to changes. .... then create a plan

Approach exploring new technologies with a sense of play or discovery, how do they work? Good questions are: - can they make your life easier? - do they give you something new, - save time? - save money? - is this technology what your stakeholders and customers/users expect you to offer within your solution to their problems? ✅ Set aside time to assess you current tech stack to see if there is anything lacking or which might be a better fit to tasks. ✅ Set aside time to explore types of technologies as a project, crash test them, see how they fit with your current platforms ✅ think about ease of use, efficiency, cost, training burden and the impact of introducing a new platform or technology.

It has been said that "your network is your net worth", being able to cultivate a presence in a community can really help. Not everyone though feels like the social butterfly and so traditional networking isn't always for everyone. ✅ If networking in an event, a good idea is to have a short introduction for yourself ready, it's always good to use people's names and make eye contact when talking to them too. ✅ Pick events where there are types of people you'd like to communicate with and make an effort to reach out ahead of an event and if appropriate thank them for their time afterwards. ✅ In targeting an internship it can also be good to reach out to people to see if they might mentor you, this can open doors and improve skill.

Soft skills are the oil that keep a productive work place running, being good in soft skills gives an employer to see how you might fit the culture of the place. ✅ Demonstrate ways you have worked together with different types of people with different approaches to the task and how you have balanced the approach and communicated well to achieve success. ✅ Show you're ability to use active listening and ask questions to get a deeper understanding ✅ Tell situations where you have had to learn new things and solve problems and routes you tried
