“Amy is an extradordinary story-teller. She has a particular talent for getting to the nub of a story and communicating it in an engaging and compelling manner - whether that be through written text, video, social media post or by spoken word. I line-managed Amy at Age International and while I was the Head of Comms and she was the Content Manager, she taught me a lot about digital comms and story-telling. She built Age International's social media accounts from scratch, achieving high levels of engagement from supporters. She developed KPIs for all our digital channels, in order to ensure that content was achieving its goals of reaching our supporters and engaging them with our work and issues. She also ensured the website was fully optimised and responsive to the needs of our supporters, by leading a UX process with an external agency. I have observed Amy on a content-gathering trip and seen her build rapport quickly with those she was to interview, photograph and film. She is good at putting interviewees at ease in order to get the best out of them. I was particularly proud of Amy when she produced a video on Myanmar from content gathered by a freelancer (briefed by Amy) and turned it into a short but sweet (and absolutely captivating) video, which achieved 2 million views. This was the most viewed video ever produced by Age International and was shared with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), where it also became their most viewed video in their 50 year plus history. An astonishing achievement, given that members include such luminaries as Oxfam, Save the Children and Christian Aid. My only criticism of Amy is that she doesn't recognise how good she is - so doesn't always sell herself in the best way to demonstrate her skills and knowledge. Believe me: she is an excellent creative content manager.”
