Here's how you can seize growth opportunities as a strategy professional.
Assessing trends is indeed very important. What’s more important is critical analysis of those trends and how do they point towards strategic growth. Following trends blindly can be risky. Strategy is built on principles that you’ve based on your mission, direction and resources. Observing them diligently will (1) stop you from ‘bandwagon-ing’, (2) help you understand their long-term impact and (3) stop you from risking what you’ve built over a long time over following something short-term.

How can lateral thinking and storytelling be combined to create a creative strategy?
If you think about it, every story is about conflict. Conflict creates tension and drama that keeps the audience engaged and invested in the outcome of your storytelling. Frankly, nobody wants to hear the obvious. Especially, your audience. Lateral thinking helps us find this conflict and pull people in. Whether it's thinking obtusely about data, or finding an image that your audience might have to think about - either will draw your listeners into what you're trying to say. Use it as your superpower to be memorable and stand-out. Calling the image of an potato, 'Potato' is the worst mistake you can make. The moment you call it 'Apple of the Earth' (as the French do), you'll create tension that will be impossible for anyone to ignore.
