      • Developed, managed, and maintained national dataset of COVID-19 cases through various iterations by creating and documenting tools and processes for data QA, cleaning, enhancement and dissemination

      • Managed change from case-level reporting of COVID-19 to episodic reporting by preparing detailed documentation of current processes, envisioning new processes and presenting these to various audiences – SQL developers, epidemiologists, project managers – bridging gaps between these groups, validating automated outputs, developing new processes for sub-teams with more limited SQL capacity, communicating changes to upstream, lateral, and downstream users of the data, and planning dry-runs to ensure minimal disruption to our expected services.

      • Developed a surveillance system for detecting travel-associated cases of COVID-19 using Passenger Locator Forms, contact tracing data, and test booking data.

      • Provided data products to several public-facing reports, including the weekly National COVID-19 and Influenza Surveillance Report, the Variant Technical Briefings, and the weekly COVID-19 Vaccine Surveillance Report. I met with the teams preparing these reports to understand their needs/requirements, developed the data products, and produced SOPs so that junior scientific colleagues could take over production.

      • Co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications in top journals including New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet.

The Community Action Workshop, set up as a series of discussion-based conversations, was conducted in the summer of 2012, with 16 high school students from Lead High School in Karachi, Pakistan. I independently developed a three-week curriculum that revolved around topics in the news or topics that were controversial or simply left out in “polite” discussions, and approached these topics using news articles, essays, poems, TED Talk videos and various other engaging mediums. As the facilitator, I engaged the participants through role-playing exercises, debate, writing, research and activities involving teamwork and multimedia resources. Throughout the course of the workshop, participants were expected to develop critical thinking skills so they could begin to ask the whats, the whys, and the hows of the problems they identified around them and then to try to find solutions to these problems.
