LuminousXR is a platform for creating hard skills XR training with many advanced features like skipping, multi-user, multi-language, gamification, analytics and 3 distinct training modes.

The Rift S was discontinued in April 2021 and Oculus as a brand is now obsolete as Meta roll out the Quest range of headsets.

VR allows you to practice and learn a physical processes at your own pace in a safe controlled virtual environment building up muscle memory.

Developing for VR is very different from traditional 2d mediums. We specialise in creating VR training and have created a tried and tested processes for delivering projects. First is requirements gathering. Normally we are trying to replicate real-world procedures and the best way to capture this is to video a subject matter specialist carrying out and narrating the process. Once we have captured the process we break it down in to the individual steps that the user must carry out. These steps are also used for pricing the development. Up to 50 user steps would create 1 modules and up to 5 modules equals a full scenario. We then create a user flow which shows the steps but also the different game responses which we call node steps.

The Luminous XR platform allows you to build linear technical training in Unity with FLOW XR a no-code visual scripting tool. It comes with a ton of pre built functionality including multi user as standard, localisation and different training modes. There is a whole host of templates and documentation to get you up and running quickly.

VR provides a good medium for putting people in uncomfortable situations they wouldn't want to experience in real life, however there are still a number of issues. The main one is getting virtual characters to look realistic. The limitations of mobile VR mean most characters look quite expressionless or cartoon like. Also, trainee interactions tend to be limited to point and click responses making the experience very rigid. Finally evaluating a trainee’s responses are also limited to the time it takes them to respond, which doesn't really give much insight into how they were feeling. In our experience VR is much better suited to hard skills training where trainees are learning by doing, memorising processes and building up muscle memory.
