David jointly leads the data centre and general MEP team in the West and manages a number of multi-disciplinary data centre projects within and outside of the UK. He holds relationships with some of Arup's key data centre clients and regularly attends industry events creating and nurturing professional relationships.

David jointly leads the data centre and general MEP team in the West and manages a number of multi-disciplinary data centre projects within and outside of the UK. He holds relationships with some of Arup's key data centre clients and regularly attends industry events creating and nurturing professional relationships.

David holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a chartered engineer through the IMechE and CIBSE. Being a multi-disciplinary design lead he has a broad knowledge of building related engineering solutions, but is particularly knowledgeable in electrical concepts for data centres. Able to work in the detail of very technical projects whilst maintaining sight of the bigger picture.

David has been instrumental in the design, development and implementation of Arup's own data centre training course that is run internally to teach new or upskill existing staff in to this growing market sector. He feels strongly that Arup must develop engineers from a diverse background in to the data centre industry.

As a senior engineer within the Cardiff MEP team, David is responsible for leading and managing project teams, invoicing and monitoring project finances and ensuring the clients needs and expectations are met. Over the past 8 years, David has worked on projects in a number of sectors but in the last few years has concentrated on Data Centre design.

David's work on one particular framework has been instrumental in gaining a number of prestigious Data Centre Dynamics Awards. This area of his work has mainly focused on the optimisation and energy improvement of legacy data centres, but he is equally comfortable developing designs from concept through to Integrated Systems Testing of large scale facilities.

Although David's background is in Mechanical engineering, he demonstrates a clear understanding of electrical principals which allow him to fully appreciate the complexities and problems that Data centre clients face. He has recently undertaken DCD's Power Professional course, and keeps up to date with ASHRE, uptime and other relevant publications. Show less

I work on a wide variety of projects from concept to completion. I am able to produce, present and deliver detailed design layouts, schematics, calculations and 3d models whilst ensuring an overall sustainable design that is within scope and budget.

I am proficient in software such as Revit, AutoCad, IES thermal modeling software, Microsoft Office.

I am a qualified BREEAM Education 2008 Assessor and Chartered through the IMechE.
