About

I am head of World Resources Institute Europe's UK office. Based in London, the office is home to 75 staff, working on climate, food and land use, the ocean, cities, and energy. I also serve as a Senior Advisor to the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU), working to support FOLU with its international diplomacy, communication and engagement on global food and land use policy.

Prior to joining WRI in 2017, I worked as a Senior Programme Manager in the Prince of Wales' International Sustainability Unit, working to support the then Prince of Wales (now King) with his convening and engagement on rainforests, sustainable agriculture, and climate change (from 2012 - 2017).

Previously, I served as Lead Adviser on Environment in the Colombian Presidency, from 2008 - 2011, where I had the opportunity to support President Santos' environmental leadership and his work to take forward the environmental dimensions of the peace process.

I have a Master's Degree with Distinction in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science; and an Undergraduate Degree (an MA) in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) from the University of Oxford.

I started my career in 2004 as a researcher at Oxfam and the UN Human Development Report. I then worked for the Jubilee Debt Campaign and Make Poverty History Campaign, and for a humanitarian organization working in the Middle East: the AMAR Foundation. I also worked for the children's charity, Kids Company.

I live in Lewes, in East Sussex, with my wife Davina, son Oli, daughter Lara, and chocolate Labrador, Rosie. In my free time, I am secretary of the Friends of Western Road Community School; an enthusiastic amateur choral singer, and proud member of the East Sussex Bach Choir; a committed left back (with occasional surges forward) in the Monday Night Footballers team; and a member of the Southover Bonfire Society, involved in Lewes' infamous bonfire night.

I am the author of a book -- 'Given Half A Chance: Ten Ways to Save the World' -- which was published by Unbound in 2019, and of which Lord Nicholas Stern was kind enough to write: 'This delightful book is strongly practical and action-oriented, while also deeply human and moral in setting out the values which should guide our response to the climate and environmental challenges we face. Getting people to read this important book will be a valuable step along the very attractive road to sustainable and inclusive development'.
