In software project management, underestimating resources is an ancient folly, yet avoidable with attention to six critical areas. 1. Dive into a robust discovery phase, not to map every detail but to grasp core problems by their impact, value and complexity. 2. Mix up your estimation team with diverse skills, ages etc to uncover hidden risks; everyone can estimate. 3. Conduct joint risk mapping sessions to account for all scenarios, adding necessary and accurate contingencies. 4. Ensure a solid delivery team and reliable progress tracking system to catch deviations early. 5. Prioritise effective communication among all stakeholders, creating clear channels for information flow, fostering understanding and encouraging collaboration.
