I was required to take notes during the meeting, mark up amendments on the documents, and generally assist as required with document management. The General Counsel spent some time with me after the meetings answering questions and outlining how the rest of the transaction would likely progress. This was valuable to understand the structure of transactions, to witness the interaction between clients and lawyers in practice, the importance of attention to detail in practice and more generally about Aviation Finance.

I was able to gain insight on what their daily activities consisted of within that sector and as a commercial lawyer in general. It was invaluable to be able to hear firsthand about what the lawyers enjoyed about their career and what drove them to becoming a commercial solicitor initially. It was interesting to hear their experiences on becoming an international lawyer based in Singapore and it allowed me to think about my future commercial law career.
