I am sat with the Global Transportation Finance team, assisting with all stages of a deal, specifically within commercial aviation.

I was invited to attend lease negotiation meetings with the General Counsel of Transportation Partners Singapore. The negotiation meetings took place in London. I was required to take notes during the meeting, mark up amendments on the documents, and generally assist as required with document management. I was invited to attend lease negotiation meetings with the General Counsel of Transportation Partners Singapore. The negotiation meetings took place in London. I was required to take notes during the meeting, mark up amendments on the documents, and generally assist as required with document management. The General Counsel spent some time with me after the meetings answering questions and outlining how the rest of the transaction would likely progress. This was valuable to understand the structure of transactions, to witness the interaction between clients and lawyers in practice, the importance of attention to detail in practice and more generally about Aviation Finance. I was a barista at a restaurant cafe in New Zealand during the busy summer months. I was in charge of opening and organising the coffee machines and seating area before customers arrived and I worked alongside the other baristas to ensure we were efficient in our systems. I was able to remain calm under pressure by constantly communicating with my team.

I was a waitress at a pizza bar in New Zealand during the busy summer months. I was in charge of seating customers, helping customers with any queries or requests they may have had and serving their food. I had to ensure that communication between the bar staff, floor staff and kitchen staff remained efficient to be able to offer the best service possible to the customers.

I coached recreational and competitive gymnastics to children aged 4-17. I was responsible for their skills and activities, as well as physically assisting them, if necessary, in a safe manner. Being a coach within a school, I was also in charge of their safety, ensuring that all the children were safe during and after their sessions while waiting for a parent or guardian to pick them up.

I spent three weeks interning at Stephenson Harwood Singapore where I was assisting the following practice areas: Aviation Finance, Corporate Finance and its alliance law firm called Virtus Law LLP. I was involved in sorting documents, making amendments and making execution versions. I learnt how to conduct legal due diligence, draft share price agreements, written resolutions and leases. I was involved in sorting documents, making amendments and making execution versions. I learnt how to conduct legal due diligence, draft share price agreements, written resolutions and leases. This benefitted me by giving me an insight into the daily activities as a lawyer in each of these practice areas, what is expected of a lawyer and how to produce work according to client expectations. Being able to experience three different practice areas benefited me to see where suited me as an individual. Show less

I am a trained barista, having obtained my barista qualification at Dean Brettschneider’s Baking and Cooking School in 2019. I was a barista and food prep assistant, where I was in charge of making all food and beverages for customers. I was also in charge of teaching the new employees how to use the coffee machine, ensuring efficiency.

I was selected to listen to five different partners, associates and trainees at Shearman & Sterling Singapore discuss their careers and the sector that they work in. I was able to gain insight on what their daily activities consisted of within that sector and as a commercial lawyer in general. It was invaluable to be able to hear firsthand about what the lawyers enjoyed about their career and what drove them to becoming a commercial solicitor initially. I was able to gain insight on what their daily activities consisted of within that sector and as a commercial lawyer in general. It was invaluable to be able to hear firsthand about what the lawyers enjoyed about their career and what drove them to becoming a commercial solicitor initially. Developed my understanding of commercial law through various seminars hosted by leading law firms and through networking with other interns. I gained valuable insight into the real world experiences of a commercial lawyer, and I was able to complete a final legal advice case study project.
