My USP:
I am not afraid to ask questions and can pick the right time to do so. I can motivate my team after they've been disappointed. I am a problem solver and have an engineers' brain.

Hobbies and interests:
Weight training at the gym has improved my mental wellbeing and physical health, especially over the winter period. On my commute, I sketch either my fellow passengers or my reflection. Outside of work, I am writing a book about the history of the potato (my favourite food. If you had to choose potatoes or tomatoes, which would it be? Either way, you can't win). Currently, I'm reading 'The Armchair Economist', which is teaching me about the economy in a digestible way and also throwing in a few laughs (which I need, because prior to this, I read Ian McEwan's 'On Chesil Beach').

Where I see myself in the next five years:
Being grateful for where I am and looking forward to the next five - and with an aga oven.

During my Gap Year, I got involved in various volunteering opportunities. For two days a week, I volunteered at Leonard Cheshire Disability care home and gained a certificate in Moving and Handling. My time there forged friendships with the residents and dispelled many assumptions I had about disabilities.

The highlight of my Gap Year was my month spent in Himachel Pradesh, India. There I worked at a school during the weekday mornings and a mentally challenged children’s home in the afternoons. Since India, I’ve become more self-reliant and find new environments easier to adapt to.

Laos was such a unique place to visit - I met lots of young people who wanted to utilise their English skills. I learned more about Laos with them than from any museum or travel guide!

    Disaster and Humanitarian Relief

For one week me and an informal team taught art, English and sport for Syrian refugees at a refugee camp in Kurdistan, Iraq. I am proud to have done something useful, if only for a few days. One of the best memories I have was being invited by a student to the family tent, where we were served tea.
