Preparation, has been missed from the original list. Organisations must prepare for an incident not IF but WHEN. In that preparation phase, ensure you have clearly communicated who individuals need to contact as soon as they recognise indicators of compromise. This needs to be rolled out across the whole organisation and frequently.

Identify mentors and ask them what their recommendations are. If you do not want to reach out and directly ask, identify individuals in a career space you wish to be in and see what affiliations they are part of: also, peer to peer review ask for recommendations from individuals who may have recently joined what their views are, real time.

Do not always resort back to previous models of delegating among a team. For example you know the team well, and their strengths and weaknesses, always ask if they have capacity to take on the task first. In one to one’s or leadership support understand areas that individuals wish to grow skills, this can be a great way to support them.

Understand your team’s learning preferences and needs. Please be considerate of your team members you may have specific learning needs and be prepared to offer learning aids. Research varied avenues of learning, rather than ‘the must have course’. Workshops, events and online resources may best support the individual. Also look at reverse mentoring, often your junior members of the team can add valuable insights whilst also developing their skills in other areas.

Individuals with ADHD can forge unhealthy relationships and addictions and with technology and online technology/internet use. Try to monitor screen time and understand trends of use. There are lots of apps that may offer ‘help’ with ADHD characteristics, research what apps there are and read reviews. Often these apps will come with a subscription fee. The nature of ADHD also means individuals may forget or if they do not use the app, it then falls in to object pertinence, meaning the individual forgets about it all together! Keep an eye on your active subscriptions to ensure you are not wasting money on services you do not use.

Support should be given to all users not just those with ADHD. Support should not be given just because they have ADHD… support should be given on individual need not diagnosis met. By ensuring your material is inclusive will remove many barriers in the first instance.
