Here's how you can communicate effectively with candidates who aren't selected for a position.
The key to effective feedback is delivery. Yes in a timely manner. Yes pick up the phone. But let's talk about delivery. There's typically 2 types of feedback styles. 1. The Cheerleader 2. The Critic Both are important (and common) 1. Reinforces positive encouragement 2. Highlights flaws A blend of the above + being 'The Coach' will take your feedback delivery from a 7 to a 10. e.g If someone lacks skill, preparation or time management... You give them actionable advice on where and how to develop this skill, ask questions on how they prepared and to walk you through the timings in their day, then you provide insightful tips on how they can correct this in the future. Feedback without action is empty.
