If you are homeless or living in hostel accommodation, Christmas can be a lonely and depressing time. Crisis at Christmas provide centres across London between 23 and 30 December that offer vital companionship, hot meals and warmth, and a wide range of essential services that homeless people often miss out on. Joe has been volunteering for Crisis at Christmas on and off now for 6 years. When asked what's his favourite task at Crisis - cleaning toilets!

Centre 33 was founded in 1977 and takes its name from it early premises at 33 Hatfield Road, St Albans. It moved to its current premises in 1991. It is manned and managed almost entirely by over 100 volunteers. Centre 33 aims to help these people by being somewhere warm and dry to meet, offering hot food and drinks, and by providing toiletries and shower facilities. As general volunteer, Joe's role is to do what he does best; cook, clean and generally muck in to help out where he can.
