This role was to provide support to the seven Patient & Public Involvement in Health forums for Cornwall and Plymouth. This included liaison with Healthcare organisations, including the NHS, Social Services and Voluntary organisations and to act as Forum Manager. This was a new contract for my employers to provide this service to the PPI Commission. Upon taking up the post, I was fortunate enough to be given a 'blank sheet' to work from. The Commission itself was so new; it had yet to be set up! As a consequence, premises had to be found, staff and volunteers recruited, budgets set and even roles agreed between the Commission and stake holders. This was a very challenging and exciting time which allowed me to flourish in my role. Principal achievements were the setting up of an effective support network over a widely dispersed area, the provision of specialist localised training and the induction of our volunteers into the decision making arena of local statutory and voluntary agencies.

  • Operations Manager

    St. Petrocs Society Ltd

    - 4 years 7 months

My role as Acting Operations Manager gave me the responsibility of overseeing the management of four hostels, a day centre, a team of outreach workers, and a rent bond support scheme. Reporting to the CEO, the role included staff supervision, support and budget management. I prepared the society for the introduction of the, then new, Supporting People funding stream and set up the first floating support scheme in North Cornwall.

The campaign collects donated warm coats for the most vulnerable in our city and distributes them through homeless, refugee, and other charities during November to December each year. Over recent years I have had the opportunity to extend the reach of the campaign where we are now able to collect and distribute in excess of 30,000 coats to those most in need. 1,500 volunteers…
