Silks Nightclub original opened January 1972 as Snoopys Nightclub by Alan Murray
From actually taking my first steps upon the nightclub dance floor, it was predestined for me to be hosting my first events by 14 and running all operation in 1989 aged 19.

I have hosted hundreds of Live music events including international legends like Trapeze, and one of the first venues to focus on Tribute Acts, introducing the likes of Bootleg Beatles, Abba Mania

1994 Expand Silks from 300 to 540 Capacity
2000 Expand Silks from 540 to 900 Capacity
2010 to 2015: Due to illness I had to retire from all active life, giving Silks back to my father who employed a manager
2015: I returned to Silks as Director and manager, The club had been run poorly but within 3 months I increased turnover by 400% and within the year was back to FULL HOUSES every week with over 1000% increase in profit

2019: I personally gutted my Club in readiness for a major relaunch in March 2020
I had planned to do a major refurbishment and a change of style to incorporate a warehouse/events business model, having secured a £500,000 loan and designs drawn up all was looking good, then News from Italy…
With my experience, I had the foresight to delay the drawdown of the load and postpone the work, 10 days later the world lockdown down with a global Pandemic.
Silks should have celebrated its 50th year in January 2022 but due to 2 years of lockdowns & restrictions, I made the hardest decision of my life and decided never to re-open. Show less
