As MD for the region I led all aspects of this acquisition for MENA, starting from conceiving the mid-tier strategy through to negotiations and execution for the post acquisition plan.

Acquired a minority stake in ChinaWeb, the parent company of Chinese financial information portal Hexun. Founded in 1996, Hexun is one of China’s largest financial information portals with 50 million monthly unique visitors and 670 million page views per month.

Acquired software business focused on market data distribution systems. Led the negotiation, valuation, structuring, diligence and post acquisition plan.

ClearForest is a provider of text analytics software, which is used to "tag," or categorize, unstructured information to extract facts about people, organizations, places or other details from news articles, Web pages and other documents. Led execution of transaction.

Digital publishing and data aggregation platform. Lead the negotiation of Reuters 50% interest to Dow Jones (News Corp). Complex negotiation process given inter-company and content license arrangements between the three organizations.

Worked with both organizations to help formulate the business proposition for this innovative approach to Foreign Exchange trading. As well as building the operational and financial case for the business, I also played a key role in structuring the deal. Evaluated whether Reuters should liquidate its stake in Instinet, which ultimately led to an auction process. I advised on offers received, and assisted with negotiations throughout the process.

Worked with the management team to prepare the business for disposal and directed management presentations. I led negotiations with all potential purchasers, and was responsible for keeping the incumbent management team motivated throughout the process.

Led numerous workstreams on the internal evaluation team to develop a robust valuation for the acquisition of Telerate. Heavily involved the complex global post acquisition integration process.

Led the process for the disposal including vendor due diligence, management presentations and negotiation with bidders.

Electronic Communications Network (ECN) on for NASDAQ equities. Played a significant role in helping Reuters develop its strategy with regards to Instinet and the ECN market. Assisted Instinet to negotiate with Island on relative valuation, board composition and transaction structure.

Financial information platform. Led transaction starting with the articulation of the strategy and cumulating with the negotiation of the deal terms. A key part was identifying areas for potential synergies and advising on deal structure.

Financial information and Trading platform. Evaluated strategic and financial logic for the acquisition of some or all of the assets that were in Chapter 11. Led financial modeling and integration planning. Assessed the anti-trust aspects the deal, and how to structure a transaction that ensured Reuters could increase its buy-side presence.

Telecoms and network provider. Structured interim debt financing for Savvis as the primary provider for Bridge. Also structured long-term commercial services agreement.

US equity agency brokerage. Assisted in preparing the S1 filing, determined inter-company agreements and developed the management road show presentation. Led the internal analysis of the impact on Reuters to support the board’s decision-making process.

Led due diligence, deal structuring and negotiation for Reuters investment in an online investment advice platform for defined contribution plan participants. Sold to MorningStar in 2003.

Raised venture capital finance to acquire nine divisions from Misys Plc.

Raised $50 million for a Class One acquisition of a company from a Hogg Robinson Group.

Engaged by World Bank for six months to split the bank into three distinct businesses and prepare them for sale.
