About

A great Humanist, fighter and protector of equality, Nelson Mandela never spoke truer words than when he categorically professed that education is the most powerful weapon in the world.

Years later, another man living north of the equator, shouted out to all and sunder that 'Those who are crazy enough to believe they can change the world, are usually the ones who do'.

My professional career has been based upon those two resounding thoughts. They are provocative and offer personal accountability (if you dare to read between the lines).

I think outside of the box, surpassing the landscape of the status quo, and challenge it in creative, reflective and engaging ways. My passionate preoccupation with all of existence, and the colossal, complex web of life has ultimately dictated an holistic approach to addressing all that divides and all that can bring us together.

To this end, the contributions we make in our lifetimes must be considerate, with the welfare of all individuals and our natural world at the forefront of what we do. Social and ecological endeavours sustain my heart and my work, while compassion, curiosity and respect play a vital role in the projects I undertake. Involved in both small and large-scale projects that embrace social change and ecological welfare which have a positive impact on the Collective, my leadership strengths are certainly humanist in nature.

Am I out to change the world? Well, yes and no. I strive to foster education and curiosity through various mediums, and encourage children and adults alike to question the world around them. After that, it's up to each of us to direct our intelligence and compassion towards those things which will improve lives and ecosystems on local, national and international levels.

Lead research assistant to the Principal Investigator of prestigious British Academy-funded project in partnership with London South Bank University, Collaborative Voices: drawing on cross-sector expertise in building community capacity and sustaining partnerships towards net zero sustainable futures.

The research is predicated on the knowledge that while the climate crisis affects everyone, it is the racialised and marginalised communities who are disproportionately affected, and also disproportionately excluded from policy and decision-making processes. Adopting an inclusive framework built upon systems leadership, Collaborative Voices moves away from top-down approaches, and intentionally creates space to explore opportunities for community and cross-sectoral participation in achieving net zero goals in London.

My role has predominantly involved researching and securing the participation of individuals across the public, private, third and community sectors and maintaining in-person and online communication between them. I also play a significant role in facilitating a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the complex nature of net zero by virtue of shaping the reflexive, process-oriented agendas across four network sessions.

Naturally, the research is highly dynamic and multi-faceted given the sensitive and complex issues that accompany the outright or inadvertent neglect of members of marginalised communities. To this very end, my role has necessitated a genuine understanding and ability to navigate potentially difficult terrain, and to foster an environment that encourages open and honest dialogue without fear of prejudice and/or judgement.

Conducting the literature review; collecting and collating data; engaging with primary researchers; maintaining spreadsheets and dealing with budgetary issues are other duties I am tasked with.
