You want to create a culture of inclusion in the workplace. What are the best ways to get started?
Here are my 5 top recommendations: 𝟭. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: Ensure leadership visibly champions diversity and set clear goals. 𝟮. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Implement regular diversity training, encourage ERGs, and establish open channels for feedback. 𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀: Audit and adapt company policies and practices to ensure they support an inclusive environment for all employees. 𝟰. 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁: Use fair, unbiased recruitment and promotion processes to build a diverse workforce that reflects the community. 𝟱. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: Set specific inclusion metrics, regularly assess progress, and adjust strategies to continuously foster an inclusive culture.

Your team members are not meeting expectations. How can you motivate them to do better?
If your team's performance is lagging, don't assume it's a motivation issue. Dig deeper, I reckon! Talk to your team, and investigate if unclear expectations, lack of resources, burnout, or hidden obstacles are the real culprits. Address the root causes, then focus on building motivation through clear goals, ownership over tasks, recognition of effort, and opportunities for growth. Remember, everyone responds differently, so it's good to tailor your approach for the best results!

Cultural Competency Training: Implement regular training for peer support staff to understand diverse cultural beliefs and communication styles. Encourage sensitivity and awareness of different cultural norms and health practices. Diverse Peer Staffing: Recruit peer supporters from varied cultural backgrounds to ensure relatability and representation. Create a space for sharing cultural insights, enhancing team’s collective understanding. Tailored Support Programmes: Develop culturally-tailored support programmes, incorporating relevant traditions and languages. Collaborate with community leaders to ensure programmes respect and respond to the unique needs of diverse patient groups.

Showcase your analytical skills by using clear and concise language. Provide real-world examples that demonstrate your ability to think critically. Focus on the insights gained from your analysis rather than the methods used. Emphasise your problem-solving skills and storytelling to engage your audience.

As a Volunteer Ambassador I work alongside the Dementia UK team to help reach out to individuals who may need the support of an Admiral Nurse, as well as developing new fundraising opportunities.
