What do you do if your suggestions for content creation are met with resistance from your boss?
First you need to understand why there are resistance and concerns around the content. Have they seen or experienced similar content they were not happy with, or it provoked them in the wrong way? Listen, ask questions and find out more, without being defensive! It can often be a case of needing to provide examples where such content creation methods have been successful. It may also be necessary to provide additional data (engagement, etc) on the content to help convince on the case. Make sure the examples are relevant and relatable: if you’re trying to convince the boss on the need for content on an industrial widget, there’s little point showcasing an example from Nike, for example! Overall, as a content professional back yourself.

What do you do if your client's expectations conflict with your content strategy?
First it's important to find out and understand why the expectations have changed. Was the content strategy aligned correctly with the business strategy to start with? Open, honest and upfront conversations are key here.
