What do you do if your remote team members are hesitant to trust and connect with you?
Whenever I have a new starter, I ensure that I spend face to face time with them to onboard them, build a rapport and ultimately trust. I have regular virtual conversations with my team individually and together and try and bring us all together at least once per quarter. We share ideas together, I listen to their concerns and I help them build their confidence, not only in themselves, but also in me. I am a true believer in a loyal team, and I foster and encourage that by treating everyone equally, always thanking them and most importantly - whenever I'm talking about our achievements - it's always we, as we succeed together and celebrate successes together. It's worked this way with remote teams for many years for me now.
