About

contact email: [email protected]

I am a passionate and skilled experiential advisor, writer, and artist, completing a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from The Open University. I have a strong interest and expertise in criminal justice, trauma, human rights, neurodiversity and psychological sciences; I aim to use my lived experience and knowledge to inform and influence policy and practice in these areas. I am committed to learning, collaborating, and sharing my insights and perspectives with others, and I value kindness, compassion, and diversity in my work.

As an experiential advisor for the Criminal Justice Team at The Wise Group, I work with probation services to assess current approaches to supporting people with complex needs, identify opportunities for positive change, and help make them happen. I also contribute to various publications, projects, and networks related to prison reform, such as the Prisoner Policy Network and the Perrie Lecture Committee. I have also written for the Faculty of Social Sciences POLIS department of the Open University, Inside Time National Prison Newspaper and The Black Country Bugle.

In 2021, I was chosen by the Perrie Lecture Committee as the winner of the prestigious Perrie Lecture Essay Competition. In 2023, I was shortlisted for the "Collaboration, Kindness and Learning Together Award" (WiseStars) following three people leaders' nominations for raising awareness and event planning work about neuro-inclusivity, for giving an inspirational and compassionate speech about the importance of Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) at a conference in Preston that aimed to enhance understanding about individual experience and ensuring no individual is left behind in the future in regards to having access to I.D, Bank Accounts, Benefits, Debt help and Accommodation after they leave prison and for creating a training resource for Probation Service staff regarding addiction and narcissistic abuse and how probation services can better support individuals who have these histories.

Has Britain Been Sidelined by ICJ Rejection?

    By Walthari Nikolaj

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), often referred to as the World Court, is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations (UN). Established in 1945, it serves as a cornerstone of the international legal system, offering a forum for the peaceful settlement of disputes between states and providing advisory opinions on legal questions referred by UN organs and specialised agencies.

A person being interrogated can experience cognitive overload and lie through anxiety or confusion. Verbal or body language cues are not necessarily an indicator of lying. Eve Ash cites the case of Tasmanian woman Sue Neill-Fraser who was convicted and jailed for the murder of her partner. The trauma of losing her partner might have led to telling lies of omission and having a false memory.

Within a context of major cuts to generic young people’s services, is it justifiable for government policy and funding priorities to only focus on youth programmes, tasked with preventing radicalisation and gang violence?

This course will look at the meaning of social policy, how it works as a mechanism of persuading people to behave in specific ways, its role in shaping our understandings of young people, and the role practitioners can play in mediating and influencing policy. In particular, this course will examine the racialisation and criminalisation of youth social policy as it pertains to Black and Muslim Asian British youth.

This treatment helps individuals establish a coherent life narrative in which to contextualize traumatic experiences. It is known for its use in group treatment with refugees.

    Introduction to NET
Narrative exposure therapy is a treatment for trauma disorders, particularly in individuals suffering from complex and multiple trauma. It has been most frequently used in community settings and with individuals who experienced trauma as result of political, cultural or social forces (such as refugees). Often, small groups of people receive four to 10 sessions of NET together, although it can be provided individually as well. It is understood that the story a person tells himself or herself about their life influences how the person perceives their experiences and wellbeing. Framing one’s life story solely around the traumatic experiences leads to a feeling of persistent trauma and distress.
