🌱 Soil > screen 🌱 Back in May I went up to The GWCT Allerton Project's farm in Leicestershire to take the Certificate in Sustainable Land Management and after exams and a viva I'm now a member of the BASIS Reg Ltd Environmental Advisers Register. It was great to get out of the office, get the wellies on, and learn about the latest and greatest in sustainable agriculture. Thanks to Joe Stanley, ARAgS and the other trainers for the excellent course. Here are some of my key takeaways: 👨🌾 Farming is a tough job and with farmers being on the front line of the impacts of climate change, it's only going to get tougher. 🌾 With agriculture occupying 50% of habitable land and accounting for a quarter of GHG emissions globally, this is a crucial sector if we're serious about achieving our net zero targets and tackling the biodiversity crisis. 🚜 The rise of regenerative agriculture, nature-friendly farming, and recent developments in agri-environment schemes in the UK have real potential to achieve some amazing impacts and improve the relationship between our food and the environment. I'm looking forward to applying the learnings from this course to my work in natural capital and environmental impact measurement.
