About us

Jesus College combines academic excellence in teaching and research with an informal, vibrant, and supportive community. We currently have 340 undergraduates, 190 graduates, 68 Fellows and 20 College lecturers. Our students as well as our tutors come from a very wide range of backgrounds and cultures. We select our students on achievement and potential, with a higher than average proportion of state school undergraduates. 90% of our undergraduates come from the UK, and about half of our graduate students are international, coming from 33 countries. We are exceptionally generous in our accommodation, grants and bursaries for students. Over 5,300 alumni are in touch with the College, spread across 84 countries. Over 800 of our Old Members came back to College in the last twelve months and we hope that that number will continue to rise. The College was founded in 1571 by Queen Elizabeth I, at the request of a Welsh Lawyer and Clergyman, Hugh Price. The compact central College site has beautiful quadrangles tucked away off Turl Street, right in the heart of Oxford. We also have student accommodation in self-catering flats on our other sites in North and East Oxford. The College welcomes conference and event guests during vacations, as well as visitors to the site in Turl Street. Please do get in touch with us if you wish to find out more.
