This week, we hosted students for our annual Summer School in partnership with the Welsh Government's Seren Network. Meet Julian Xiao, recipient of the John Dickey Scholarship. Currently reading for a degree in Maths and Computer Science at Jesus College, Julian is not only excelling academically but has also joined the Jesus Chapel Choir and enjoys the art of puzzle-making. His journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and the opportunities made possible by generous support. 💬Julian says: ‘The Dickey Scholarship proved to be more than just financial aid, but really the key to unlocking my potential in university.’ 💚With this post, we conclude our summer series highlighting our scholarship recipients. ✨This week, we're thrilled to spotlight Niamh Jones (2021, English), recipient of the Michael Sheen Bursary. Having recently completed her Finals, Niamh immersed herself in Old English translations, looking at Chaucer’s classical influences in Troilus and Criseyde, and connecting the poetry of Dafydd ap Gwilym with his English contemporaries. This week, we spotlight Zac Gunaratnam-Bailey (2023, DPhil Geography and the Environment), the first recipient of the Bradley Wilson Scholarship in Geography and the Environment. Zac describes his Oxford experience as ‘life-changing’. Zac is conducting research in Atlanta on racialised urban development, ecology, and resistance in the US South.
