A working group consisting of members from 26 European countries- the Heads of Food Safety Agencies (HoA), has published its first report on food supplements and identified 117 substances that may have potentially hazardous properties and pose a health risk. Among these substances, 13 have been concluded as “highest priority” due to their potential risk to consumers, especially when consumed in amounts exceeding normal intake. These include Coumarin in plant preparations, piperine, tryptophan, Actaea racemosa, Lepidium meyenii and Ocimum tenuiflorum (holy basil). To safeguard the health of consumers, analytical testing of supplement raw materials and finished products is essential. We're thrilled to announce the release of our latest white paper.
