Last month Cardiff's Living Wage City Steering and Action Group won the Local Champion Award at the Living Wage Foundation's annual Living Wage Champion Awards. Cardiff became the first Capital City in the UK to be recognised as a Living Wage City back in 2019, and the group continues it's work advocating for a Living Wage across the city . The success of Cardiff as a Living Wage City can be attributed to the strong partnership model that has been forged. The Cardiff Living Wage City Steering Group and Action Team include members from Cynnal Cymru - Sustain Wales, Citizens Cymru Wales, Cardiff Council, Ffair Jobs CIC, Cardiff Business School, Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC), Food Cardiff, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Cardiff & Vale Credit Union and FOR Cardiff. Over 67,000 people now work for one of Cardiff's 225 accredited Living Wage Employers. Almost 13,000 of those have had a pay rise to the real Living Wage, injecting £82.7 million into the local economy. The award recognises the steering and action group's effort and the ongoing 'Cardiff as a Living Wage City' campaign to ensure a fair wage for a fair day's work. On receiving the award Chair of the Cardiff as a Living Wage City Steering Group and Leader of Cardiff Council, Huw Thomas, said: “It’s wonderful to be recognised with a Local Champion award at the Living Wage Champions Awards ceremony in Cardiff and I want to thank everyone in the steering group for the part they play in advocating for the Living Wage in our city." “We’ve made great progress but still want to achieve much more. We aim to reach 300 accredited Living Wage employers in the city, employing 95,000 people over the next few years to ensure that more people are earning a fair wage for a fair day’s work.” Photo Credit: www.katka-photography.com #LivingWageCity #Cardiff #Caerdydd #LivingWage #CyflogByw #FairWork #GwaithTeg #FairPay #TalTeg #CardiffLivingWageCity #CaerdyddDinasCyflogByw

Ydych chi'n Gyflogwr Cyflog Byw sydd eisiau gwybod sut mae'r cyfraddau Cyflog Byw yn cael eu cyfrifo? Are you a Living Wage Employer who wants to know how the Living Wage rates are calculated? Find out by watching the animation below 🎞️👇 The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate independently calculated based on the cost of living. The calculation follows 3 steps: 1️⃣ Every two years focus groups representing different household types decide what should be in a core basket of goods to provide a minimally acceptable standard of living. 2️⃣ Everything in the basket is priced up. 3️⃣ A wage rate is calculated based on the cost of this core basket of goods, taking into account different household types as well as tax and benefit changes.
