Dawsongroup truck and trailer is celebrating its 50th year of vehicle rental, and to mark the occasion it showed a special liveried Volvo Trucks UK FM Electric at this year's Road Transport Expo. The gold tractor unit is part of a batch of eight battery-powered Volvos to enter its fleet, the first zero-tailpipe-emission trucks to do so. Isuzu Truck UK returned to RTX as the market leader in the UK 7.5 tonne sector. Head of sales, product and marketing Stuart Beeton said: 'This time last year we were number two overall, but we finished the year in the top spot. It's an achievement that we are all incredibly proud of." He said an increasing number of UK operators are realising the truck's numerous benefits. "Take the N75.150 tipper for example, you can put 3.6 tonnes on the back of it. Plus, it has a small footprint, good turning circle, and is durable and reliable," he added. In a nod to the past, IVECO has brought its classic TurboStar back to life, and the new limited-edition S-Way version put in an appearance at this years Road Transport Expo, receiving many admiring glances! In the current issue of Commercial Motor they met with Andy Williams of Huntingdon-based RD Williams & Sons (Haulage), the proud owner of this exclusive truck. #RTX2024 #iveco

There were two new products on the Colson Trailers stand at RTX2024; a heavy duty tipper trailer and lightweight scrap trailer. ℹ️ The blue heavy duty tipper trailer has been designed to be more of a halt-pipe in appearance and be stronger in the sides, compared to its predecessor. It weighs in at 7,200kg and had already been sold. Next to it is the Liteweight Scrapbox trailer on a stepframe chassis, which has been built for hauliers who carry scrap rather than those that collect it for wholesale. It has shed two tonnes of kerb weight, with weight removed from the body using a thinner steel, and from the chassis, as well as using alloy wheels. 💡 Debuting a new product in 2025? DAF'S new XB Electric 19 tonne gross vehicle weight (GVW] rigid made its UK show debut at this years RTX, following the recent launch of the 12 tonnes GVW at the London EV Show last year. The 19 tonner is propelled by a 190kW e-motor via a 210kWh battery, while a larger 282kWh battery is also on offer. At 12 and 16 tonnes, the XB Electric features a 120kW e-motor with a potential range of 350km. DAF uses cobalt-and magnesium-free, lithium iron [ferrous) phosphate high energy density 'LFP' battery packs. RTX is perfect platform to launch new products to the industry. Visitors to RTX got the chance to see, feel and clamber into the new Volvo FH Aero range, as well as the Volvo FH16 780 and Volvo FM Low-Entry. The FH Aero stands apart from its sister FH with its new aerodynamics, thanks to new EU rules on cabs sizes and dimensions introduced in 2020, and including new technologies such as Volvo's Camera Monitoring System, which replaces traditional exterior mirrors. TWO years ago, French tipper manufacturer Benalu acquired moving floor maker Legras Industries to form a new entity called Benalu-Legras Group. Also part of the group are French tanker maker Maisonneuve and MEGA, a tipper manufacturer from Poland. Speaking at Road Transport Expo 2024, export area sales director Olivier Broye said the group will sell its products direct into the UK. "Legras is a well-known and successful product, and we will also focus on reviving the Benalu and Maisonneuve products," he explained. RTX is dedicated to all things trucks. Billed as the UK’s first long-haul electric truck, the Daimler eActros 600 made its debut at this years RTX. Speaking at the start of the show, Daimler Trucks head of future sustainability James Venables said: "Long-distance distribution is the lifeblood of our nation's economy, and the move towards electric transport is gathering pace all the time, which is Why we believe the eActros 600 is arriving at the perfect moment for our industry.
