Looking back on our first dedicated #STEM programme for year 12 students – ‘A Week in the Life of a Space Engineer’ – which concluded on Friday, we had a great week with the 16 students from Hertfordshire schools who got an insight into the world of engineering and the career opportunities available in the space sector. After much hard work on Thursday and Friday developing their ideas in teams, the students mapped out their projects solutions and presented them to the judges – Geoff Busswell (Head of Sales & Marketing at Telespazio UK), Rebecca Irving (Telecoms Investment Lead at UK Space Agency), Simon Harwood (UK Capability and Innovation Managing Director at Leonardo) and John Shirlaw (Head of Flight Product Heritage at European Space Agency - ESA). While all four teams impressed the judges with their ideas, ‘Zeropyze’ was selected to have the best solution. Telespazio UK CEO, Sarah Macken, presented a trophy to each member of the winning team, congratulating all the students who took part for their outstanding effort throughout the week. Thanks to the following people who supported the programme throughout the week: Emma Samat, Matt Bridges, Max Branch, Gary Duffy, Abinash Joshi, Alvaro Labiano, Ryan Barry, Philip Hawkins, Jude Seaton, Rab Alabbas and Gregory (Greg) Smith. #spaceengineering #spacecareers #engineeringcareers #STEMcareers
