Harris County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Additional Victims

Following Arrest of Impersonator

Houston, TX – On Saturday, April 13, 2024, while monitoring a racing event in the Memorial Area of Houston, the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) Vehicular Crimes Division apprehended an individual impersonating a police officer.

During the event, a white Hyundai Santa Fe equipped with emergency red and blue lighting and sirens attempted to pull over undercover deputies. Recognizing the suspicious behavior, the deputies promptly notified marked HCSO units and initiated pursuit of the vehicle until it could be safely stopped.

Deputy Olivarez successfully executed a traffic stop and, upon inspection, identified the driver as Shaun Arnold. Arnold was found wearing a uniform shirt, ballistic vest, body-worn camera, and a security badge, fully equipped to deceive. Additionally, he possessed radios and other miscellaneous police-related equipment.

Further investigation revealed that Arnold had a prior arrest for impersonating a police officer in Jefferson County, Texas, and was a convicted felon. Consequently, Arnold was charged with impersonating a police officer and felon in possession of body armor.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office believes there may be additional victims related to Arnold's actions and is urging anyone with information about the incidents to come forward. If you have any tips or information, you can contact us by calling 713-274-7433 or emailing us at [email protected].
