LIBRARY RENOVATION PLAN TO FINISH IN 2020
It was November 2008 when Fulton County voters overwhelmingly passed a $275 million Library Bond Referendum to construct eight libraries, expand two facilities and renovate 23 others. It is the most expensive library construction program in the history of Georgia and has won the system recognition as a model for others across the country. Today, I am pleased to say that we are in the final phase of the ambitious master plan that will be completed in 2020 and has greatly benefited young and old across the County. North Fulton residents have always been active supporters of our libraries with north Fulton locations consistently the top circulating libraries in the Fulton system.
DID YOU KNOW?
  • Fulton County has 34 libraries and is the largest system in Georgia
  • 2019 Customer satisfaction = 96%
  • Fulton County 2019 Circulation = 2.8 Million
  • Fulton County 2019 digital library checkouts = 1 Million (up 220,000 in one year)
  • Summer 2019 Reading Program = 44,370 Participants (double the number from 2017)
The four libraries that principally serve District 2 -- Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell  and Sandy Springs -- have consistently high circulation numbers and collectively have represented roughly a third of our total systemwide circulation in each of the past three years. District 2 residents love their libraries!

NORTH FULTON

MILTON LIBRARY

The Milton Library was built in July 2015 to provide service to an area of the County that had long been underserved by the library system, and it has quickly become one of our most active libraries. Circulation increased 62% from 2017 to 2019 and the library is consistently one of our top early voting locations. The state-of-the-art 25,000 square foot facility is inspired by Milton's equestrian and farm roots and features a 'silo' entrance that is a classic symbol in the Milton area. Large reading and community rooms have gabled roofs, beautiful awnings and quaint porches, while expansive windows allow visitors to view the community green and historic oak tree. MILTON LIBRARY

ALPHARETTA LIBRARY

The Alpharetta Library also opened in 2015 as part of the new Alpharetta City Center. The 25,000 square foot facility replaced the old library on Canton Street and features two levels that include a variety of children's space, an auditorium, community space, local art work and ceiling sculptures. Patrons enjoy the charity bookstore on the second story that channels its proceeds back to the library. As Alpharetta has grown, so has the activity at the library with circulation growing 68% from 2017 to 2019. ALPHARETTA LIBRARY

SANDY SPRINGS LIBRARY

After nearly a year of extensive renovations, the Sandy Springs Library reopened in July of 2019. Built in 1973, the facility was last renovated 30 years ago and was in need of sweeping interior and exterior improvements. The library is located in the hear of Sandy Springs, close to City Springs (City Hall) and is one of our busiest branches. The floor plan was reconfigured to create a children's wing and a research wing with much-needed space for a teen section, a friends-of-the-library bookstore, meeting rooms and a children's art area. SANDY SPRINGS LIBRARY

ROSWELL LIBRARY

Located in the Roswell's historic district, the Roswell Library is the latest North Fulton library to celebrate its grand reopening with a ceremony on January 3, 2020. The renovated library adds a new entrance and porch seating area fronting Norcross Street which offers easy and walkable access. The Roswell library is consistently one of our top circulating libraries and boasts and active friends-of-the-library group and top-notch bookstore. ROSWELL LIBRARY
