Hugh Jackman (born Oct. 12, 1968) in an Australian film and theater actor known for playing the Marvel superhero Wolverine across 10 "X-Men" movies, the longest stretch of time anyone has played a live-action hero. He's won a Grammy, Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe during his career. Born in Sydney, Jackman began his career acting in Australian theater productions, such as "Beauty and the Beast," "Oklahoma" and more. His breakout role came as the adamantium-clawed mutant Wolverine in the first "X-Men" movie in 2000. His performance and the superhero series became instant hits, spawning several sequels, prequels, standalones and spinoffs. "X2" and "X-Men: The Last Stand" released in 2003 and 2006, followed by two standalones "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "The Wolverine" in 2009 and 2013. Outside of the superhero films, Jackman hosted the Tonys three years in a row, served as Oscars host and starred in movies like "Kate & Leopold," Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige," "Australia," "Real Steel" and "Chappie." In 2013, he starred as Jean Valjean in the "Les Miserables" musical and earned an Oscar nomination for the role. After appearing in a trilogy of "X-Men" prequels, he played P.T. Barnum in the musical "The Greatest Showman" in 2017 and won a Grammy for the soundtrack. His time as Wolverine came to a brief halt in the first R-rated "X-Men" movie "Logan" in 2017, but the character was revived years later for "Deadpool and Wolverine" in 2024. On Broadway, Jackman won a best actor Tony for "The Boy From Oz," starred in "A Steady Rain," played Harold Hill in "The Music Man" and led a concert residency called "Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway."
