Caution - this lovely HON Office chair arrived with poorly written instructions regarding the arm pieces. Instead of being marked L and R to match the markings on the underside of the seat cushion, we received arm pieces marked, L1 and L2.Our mistake must have been to use logic, we put L1 in Left and L2 in right. That didn’t work out at all because now one armrest is forward and the other is back behind the seat back.So we figured(more logic) remove and switch them. Well, sadly L1 is locked in and we can’t remove it.Ok, let’s check out support, HON has great office furniture, they must have good support.On Amazon’s website, we are referred to HON’s website. After more than enough minutes using the AI support troubleshooting, we gave up and went to “Contact Us” where we had to submit a generic form.And the chair is too big and bulky for return, it would cost a fortune. All we need is for Amazon or HON to send us the R piece.Stay tuned…*****Updated*****After 10 days we received 3 replacement arms in two giant boxes. Sigh—someone double-shipped our parts order. We contacted HON and were told they don’t take parts back and to throw the extras away. This was disheartening to think about the environmental consequences. We contacted local dealers and none would take the parts. So yes, they ended up in the landfill.

I've been using a gaming chair in my home office for years. While it was very comfortable it always felt cheap. It creaked and multiple parts broke, including the stem for the gas piston. While the company did honor their warranty it still meant I spent many days without a comfortable office chair. Finally my dog got his collar stuck on the recline handle and broke it out of warranty. This time I decided to go the office chair route. This was one of the few on my short list and it had 1 day shipping. 21 hours after I ordered it had arrived. Box was in good shape. Putting this chair together was breeze. This chair is very adjustable so I spent some time adjusting everything to my liking. Ergonomically everything fits just right. However, and I suspected this from the pictures, the padding in the seat is quite stiff upon arrival. That meant this chair was uncomfortable.. at first. Now that I've had it over a week, and added the HON headrest, the comfort level is rising. I think over time as the foam becomes less stiff the level of comfort will continue to go up.

tl;dr: Upon arrival I probably would have only given this chair 3 stars but it has increased to a 4 after a week of breaking it in. Hopefully my prediction is correct and I can increase it to 5 as time goes by. I'll update if/when it becomes relevant.

Update: After a month, the padding has been thoroughly broken in and my sitting experience is an enjoyable one. Fifth star earned!

For context - I am 6'4" and 230 lbs and been using the chair almost daily for 6 months now.

I bought a few chairs and researched a lot before landing on this chair. Overall, I am a fan of this chair and it checked all the boxes for me for a sub $500 chair. It will not compete against the $800++ chairs that are more for corporate wear and tear.

Assembly: Straight forward and easy. No issues with any alignment or things not fitting. I had it assembled in under 30 mins.

Comfort: The chair is comfortable ONCE you break it in. I found the chair a bit uncomfortable the first few weeks and almost returned it but kept it as I felt it would break in. After that, this chair has been comfortable with me using it 6++ hours a day. No issues with handling my weight.

Ergonomics: The height and lumbar support works well. No issues but my one challenge is that the arm rests need to a little lower. I have longer arms and my arms/elbows sometimes rest on the arm rests and they are not padded well enough for that. It can cause pain so I have learned to adapt/adjust to that. I wish they could be lowered a bit more so my elbows did not hit them.

Overall, I strongly recommend this char and over 6 months - I have had no issues with quality, comfort or challenges. Happy with the purchase. Buy with confidence!

I sold mine on Craigslist for $100. Happy to not have to look at it anymore - a reminder of how much money I wasted on it.

I tried to like it. I gave it every chance. I made excuses for this thing like I was in an abusive relationship. And in many ways, I was. For 3 months I was telling myself I can simply get used to it, that it wasn't so bad, and that I was happy and thriving.

Today, with a months-long sore back, I finally admitted that it's trash and bought a new one. The seller has refused a refund because I wasted too much time being in denial about it. I think they call it the "Ignition" because it makes you want to burn it.

I am 6'0", 185 lbs, 33 years old and have never had back problems

This chair is sturdy and made with solid materials and it looks nice. I have no doubt it will last many many years of daily use. *Unfortunately* it's tragically uncomfortable to sit in, rendering it essentially worthless.

-The recline tensioner is too stiff to lean back in it easily, even at the lowest setting
-The lumbar support actually *hurts* your back by jutting into it. I removed it entirely which helped a little but now there's no lumbar support
-The seatbottom is not long enough and falls several inches short of my knees even when I sit all the way at the back of the chair. I would like my entire thigh to have something under it and this chair just doesn't offer that. I know this sounds like a petty complaint but it really is obscene sitting on this. It's like a jump seat on an aircraft. It's enough to support you, but only your butt, not your legs.
-On top of that, the seat is a little slippery, so you're always sliding ever FARTHER down the seat, especially when you exert the MONUMENTAL force needed to lean back in this chair
-The backrest stops well below the shoulders. I knew this chair didn't have a headrest but I expected to at least be able to lean back and have my neck rest on something. Nope.

You can't relax in this thing. It's the type of chair an office building would buy to make sure its workers don't enjoy even one second of being at work. Can't have employees being comfortable or they might doze off! A little bit of pain keeps you alert after all!

There are much better office chairs out there for this price. Skip this one.

I’m so disappointed considering this was over $7xx dollars.
