Zahle - Unclaimed - 1 dead, 8+ injured Since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in early 2011, Lebanon has witnessed a multifarious deterioration in security, as tensions between domestic supporters and opponents of the Bashar al-Assad regime have sporadically broken out into armed clashes, assassinations, rocket attacks and roadside bombings.

Moreover, since October 2012, the violent fallout from the civil war next door has increasingly taken the form of deadly explosions, including suicide bombings. 2015 witnessed the deadliest bombing since the 1975-90 civil war, when 47 were killed in a twin suicide-bombing in south Beirut’s Burj al-Barajneh in November. 2016 has seen nine bombings thus far; eight of them occurring on a single day in the border town of Al-Qaa in June. Many have been claimed by jihadist groups, including ISIS and the faction formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, who have framed their attacks on predominantly Shiite civilian population centers as retaliation for Hezbollah's paramilitary intervention in Syria. In all, a total of 215 people have been killed so far by 38 explosions.

    I wonder when would the government commence the state of emergency.. the frequency of explosions for this year is 1/week ... is there an official frequency to take a decision like this ?
