Florida Highway Patrol. CREDIT: WINK News A 59-year-old Fort Myers woman died in a crash at Bermont Road and State Road 31 on Friday afternoon. That’s near Babcock Ranch. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by the woman was traveling west on Bermont Road, approaching the intersection of State Road 31. A pickup truck towing a trailer was traveling north on State Road 31, approaching the same intersection. FHP said the woman failed to stop for a red traffic signal as the truck entered the intersection hitting it. After the crash, the pickup truck traveled into a water-filled ditch and collided with a concrete light pole. There is no word on that man’s condition. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead on the scene.
