Tropical Storm Debby causes road flooding throughout SWFL

Tropical Storm Debby made landfall towards the Big Bend, bringing heavy rain throughout most of the west coast of Flordia while also still having affects to Southwest Florida.

On Sunday, Debby brought heavy rainfall, causing several busy roadways to flood locally.

In Cape Coral, the intersection of Trafalgar Parkway and Chiquita Boulevard had to be closed due to the high flood waters.

Several roadways in Punta Gorda have also been closed due to high waters.

Roads currently closed due to flooding include Wood Street between Marion Avenue and Olympia Avenue and Berry, Dolly, Chasteen and McGregor streets, between Retta Esplanade and Marion Avenue.

Traffic cones have been propped along Chasten Street and Dolly Street.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office asks motorists to exercise caution while driving and avoid congested areas.

In downtown Fort Myers, Palm Beach Boulevard is experiencing high water levels, causing police to monitor the bridge entrances in case vehicles stall.

Areas in Fort Myers are experiencing high flood waters on West Riverside Drive.

Naples experienced several flooded roadways on Sunday. However, by Monday morning, most roadways were cleared, with the exception of Gulf Shore Boulevard South between 15th Avenue South and 17th Avenue South.
